Ram Trucks (FIATY.PK) is having a stellar year so far, as sales — buoyed by the new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel — for the first three months of the year are up nearly 25 percent over the same period from a year ago. The Ram 1500 even surpassed the Chevrolet Silverado last month in sales for the first time, taking second place only behind the Ford F-150.
Ram is hoping to keep that momentum going with the newly revealed Black Package, which is expanding to the Ram Heavy Duty lineup, the company said Thursday. It will be making its official debut at the International Auto Show in Atlanta this week and is applicable to the Ram 2500 and 3500 models.
Ram said in its press release that the “Ram Black Appearance Group is a combination of brute force and style, with powertrains offering best-in-class power in both gas and diesel, not to mention a long list of features not found anywhere else in the segment … The most capable Heavy Duty also is the ‘baddest-looking’ factory-built truck on the market.”
As you can see above, the truck has been completely blacked out, down to its special-edition 20-inch black aluminum rims. It’s got black fog lamps, a black grille surrounded with black horizontal inserts, a body-color front and rear bumpers, and head badges on the grille and tailgate. All of the body-side badging has been scrubbed unless if ordered with a Cummins engine, but for those trucks, only the diesel designation remains, Ram said.
