Verizon Wireless (NYSE:VZ) now has available (with shipment before Thanksgiving) two Windows 8 phones: the Nokia (NYSE:NOK) Lumia 822 and the HTC Windows Phone 8X which are priced at $99 and $199 respectively. Although no one yet knows which Windows 8 phone Verizon might offer for free, other than one should come before the year’s end, the company did look at the Samsung (SSNLF.PK) Ativ Odessey at the big intro event for Microsoft Corporation’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) new platform.

Panasonic Corporation (NYSE:PC), which is Japan’s largest commercial employer, says that it will cut an additional 10,000 jobs by the end of March, hoping to reduce costs, and thus return to profit. In 2011, the company ridded it self of some 36,000 positions, a few via the divestitures of units. Panasonic’s Chief Financial Officer Hideaki Kawai says that the sell-offs and closures of businesses could commence as soon as next year.
