Love & Hip Hop‘s Safaree Samuels—who’s known for his appearance on the Hollywood and New York versions of the show—is about to get hitched to his lady love, Erica Mena.
After a break-up and rumors of multiple elopements, the two are getting ready to walk down the aisle. Both have been dropping hints about an upcoming wedding on social media, and Mena told fans they’re counting down. But how soon will it happen?
Safaree and Mena due to tie the knot this fall
For the past few days, Mena has been sharing snaps of herself in wedding gowns on Instagram, letting fans know that the wedding plans are progressing. Multiple outlets—including BET News and The Jasmine Brand—are reporting the lovebirds are having their ceremony in October.
According to the reports, the couple will be saying “I do” on Oct. 7 with VH1’s cameras on location to film a Love & Hip Hop wedding special. Neither Samuels nor Mena have confirmed the news, but judging by the bride-to-be’s social media posts, it’s going down soon.
The two became close on another VH1 show
It’s no secret that cast members from various VH1 shows run in the same circles, but Samuels and Mena wound up on the network’s show, Scared Famous in 2017. While each person was competing to win money for their favorite charity, certain alliances were formed to get ahead in the game.
But Safaree and Erica grew closer, with him eventually declaring he was falling in love with her. VH1 even took the time to put together a video compilation of their love story from the show.
Safaree proposed to Mena on Christmas Eve in 2018, and since then, the rumor mill has been spinning like crazy over whether they’re already married. Erica, a LHHNY and ATL alum, even wore a wedding look (her words) to the VMAs this summer.
Fans are keeping a close eye on the couple
Those who have been keeping up with the duo anticipate they’ll be making an official announcement soon about their nuptials. Fans are loving how they complement each and other and Mena’s wedding gown updates.
When the engagement news broke last year, Safaree shared that he planned the surprise for weeks, enlisting the help of R&B singer Daron Jones (from 112) to serenade her as she walked into a candle-filled room. Fans were treated to video from the teary-eyed moment which also included thousands of rose petals and backyard fireworks.
It’s reported that he dropped $175,000 on a custom ring, and they were both over the moon. At the time, Mena wrote:
“I’m absolutely the luckiest woman in the world. A Man who has never been afraid to love me. A MAN who has been here and knows everything I been through. Everything before this- It no longer matters. Wedding date set. To our family and friends- Check your mailbox very soon.”
Though their relationship has been a point of contention for some of their former Love & Hip Hop castmates, it’s possible that fans will see Erica and Safaree make an appearance during New York’s season 10 too. Stay tuned.
