A slew of highly anticipated book-to-film adaptations are set to hit the big-screen in 2017. Several notable novel inspired projects, like the long-awaited The Dark Tower film and the upcoming It remake, are scheduled to hit theaters over the coming months. 1. Live by Night, premiered January 13
Ben Affleck writes, directs, and stars in the upcoming crime film that is based on Dennis Lehane’s 2012 novel of the same name. Set in the 1920s and 1930s, the story follows Joe Coughlin, the prodigal son of a Boston police captain. After moving to the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa, Fla., he becomes a bootlegger and a rum-runner and later, a notorious gangster.
Affleck will play Coughlin, while Chris Messina, Sienna Miller, Brendan Gleeson, Elle Fanning, and Max Casella will co-star. The movie is scheduled for a limited release on December 25, before a wide release on January 13.
