It’s the time of year that faithful TV fans dread: renewal season. Each year, many shows end up on the chopping block, while others continually make it through to see another year. To help put your mind at ease, here’s a list of some of the major TV shows we’ve come to know and love and that will be around for another season.
This supernatural drama has been renewed for its fourth season. The show’s success can be attributed to a loyal fan base that continues to tune in to watch the series live, said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt, per a Zap2it article. Grimm is inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Portland Homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) is a descendant from an elite line of criminal profilers, known as “Grimms,” meaning it’s up to him to take on an assortment of ancient evils.
Throughout the show, Burkhardt works to protect his fiancé, Juliette Silverton (Bitsie Tulloch), and his partner, Hank Griffin (Russell Hornsby), from the dangers of his job, which becomes increasingly harder to do. Watch as Burkhardt continues to harness his inner Grimm and face off against royal lines dating back to the original profilers themselves, the Brothers Grimm.
2. Chicago Fire and Chicago PD
It’s a great time to be an NBC television show with “Chicago” in the title. The firehouse set drama will move on to its third season, and the police spinoff will be around for its second season. Both shows have a loyal fan base and showed strong numbers throughout their seasons.
Chicago Fire follows the lives of the firefighters and paramedics working at Chicago Firehouse 51. Viewers can follow team members as they continuously find themselves in stressful and dangerous situations. The show also focuses on their personal lives. When a tragedy claims the life of one of their own, Lt. Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) must deal with the guilt and sorrow that they feel.
Chicago PD is a police drama about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s District 21 who risk their lives daily to protect the community. The show focuses on two police groups: the uniformed officers who patrol the streets and the Intelligence Unit that combats Chicago’s organized crime, drug trafficking, and high-profile murders.
