Black Friday and Cyber Monday are slowly transitioning from the straight-and-narrow shopping of presents for under the tree and stocking stuffers. As more companies offer deals, it may become the greatest day for online bargain hunting — even for vacations.
Jodi Grundig, editor of Family Travel Magazine, told Daily Finance that hotels are trying to capture the business of people who are already in the buying mindset. “I’ve seen anywhere from 25 percent to 50 percent off. Some deals are for Cyber Monday, others are for Black Friday, and some span the whole booking window in between,” she said. “I saw some of these deals last year, but it definitely seems to have grown across the board this year.”
At almost every spending level, hotels seem to be jumping on the opportunity. Red Roof Inn’s 30 percent off deal needs to be booked on Cyber Monday and is valid on stays from December 2 through February 28. Omni Hotels & Resorts, which has locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, is offering 40 percent off bookings made between November 29 and December 2. The stay needs to occur before December 30.
Loews Hotels & Resorts is also offering 40 percent off on travel booked before 3 a.m. on December 2. Free Wi-Fi is also available for bookings made then, and the sale is valid for stays between now and April 30. Vail Resorts has up to 50 percent off for its resorts.
Individual hotels are getting in on the savings game, too. The Roosevelt Hotel in New York, for example, will have a 24-hour sale from 9 a.m. December 2 to 9 a.m. December 3. Customers will receive a 25 percent discount and free Wi-Fi on visits between January 3 and March 31. Bookings before noon may have discounts of up to 50 percent, according to Hotel Chatter.
Even platforms that offer discounts year-round are getting in the game. Jetsetter, an online hotel and vacation booking site, is adding an additional 5 percent off for Black Friday. Priceline has a holiday hotel sale. If you book before December 15 and travel before February 15, you can save up to 25 percent.
Airfare does not seem to be included in discounts, but Travelocity is offering $100 off a booking of a flight plus hotel costing more than $1,000. There is a minimum three-night stay in the hotel for the discount. But travel isn’t the only offer on tap: There are also deals on products that can get you in the vacation state of mind.
Chocoholics can do some pre-vacation relaxation with Godiva’s sale of up to 50 percent off selected items. Per-fékt will have your skin looking perfect with its skin perfection gel pump, $39.99 instead of $57.50 through December 2. Urban Decay’s NYE Arsenal is on sale on Black Friday — it includes four of the company’s most popular beauty supplies in travel sizes. Also on sale from Urban Decay is a lipstick set.
With your skin glowing, travel cosmetics ready, and accommodations booked, the only thing left is a dazzling smile. The GO SMiLE Smile Whitening System will be on sale for $69; it’s regularly $129.
