Black Friday and Cyber Monday are slowly transitioning from the straight-and-narrow shopping of presents for under the tree and stocking stuffers. As more companies offer deals, it may become the greatest day for online bargain hunting — even for vacations.
Jodi Grundig, editor of Family Travel Magazine, told Daily Finance that hotels are trying to capture the business of people who are already in the buying mindset. “I’ve seen anywhere from 25 percent to 50 percent off. Some deals are for Cyber Monday, others are for Black Friday, and some span the whole booking window in between,” she said. “I saw some of these deals last year, but it definitely seems to have grown across the board this year.”
At almost every spending level, hotels seem to be jumping on the opportunity. Red Roof Inn’s 30 percent off deal needs to be booked on Cyber Monday and is valid on stays from December 2 through February 28. Omni Hotels & Resorts, which has locations in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, is offering 40 percent off bookings made between November 29 and December 2. The stay needs to occur before December 30.
Loews Hotels & Resorts is also offering 40 percent off on travel booked before 3 a.m. on December 2. Free Wi-Fi is also available for bookings made then, and the sale is valid for stays between now and April 30. Vail Resorts has up to 50 percent off for its resorts.
