Company executives vented at Amazon this past week, imploring their partners to not allow their customers to move workloads to that company’s cloud infrastructure, as the former is developing a project that will permit customers to transfer their on-premise private cloud workloads to public cloud infrastructure that is owned and operated by VMware, said inside sources to CRN. A Project Zephyr, the VMware infrastructure as a service, was first reported on last August, but this is not that one; the current project is a new offering referred to internally as VMware Public Cloud, which is presently in beta.
