DISCA, IBM Top This 52-Week Stock Price High List Today

Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA): Oprah Winfrey says she has faith in OWN, a joint venture between Winfrey and Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA), the Associated Press reports. At the same time, Winfrey admitted on “CBS This Morning” that if viewers don’t respond, “I will move on to the next thing.” The shares closed at $51.08, up $0.09 or 0.18% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $34.75 to $51.11.

Equinix (NASDAQ:EQIX): Equinix announced that construction of phase two of its third Sydney International Business Exchange data center has begun six months ahead of schedule. Driven by high demand for premium colocation and interconnection services from cloud and financial service providers, Equinix is investing an additional $50M into the expansion of SY3, doubling the number of cabinets to 2,000. The expansion capital required is already reflected in the company’s 2012 guidance. The shares closed at $159.90, up $1.25 or 0.79% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $80.85 to $159.50.

Enteromedics Inc. (NASDAQ:ETRM): EnteroMedics announced that it has made the first commercial shipment of the Maestro Rechargeable, or RC, System to its distribution partner in Australia, Device Technologies Pty Ltd. The Maestro RC System delivers VBLOC vagal blocking therapy, a first-in-class weight loss treatment designed to control both hunger and fullness by blocking the primary nerve which regulates the digestive system. The Maestro RC System has received CE Mark for the treatment of obesity and has been listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods, or ARTG, for commercial sale in Australia. The shares closed at $2.45, up $0.15 or 6.52% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $1.52 to $2.82.

Health Net Inc. (NYSE:HNT): President Obama yesterday said he was confident that the Supreme Court wouldn’t strike down his healthcare reform law, according to The New York Times. Overturning legislation passed by a “strong majority” of Congress would be an unprecedented move by the court, the President explained, according to the newspaper. The shares closed at $39.97, up $0.22 or 0.55% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $20.51 to $40.22.

International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM): IBM launches its next big database, DB2 10, at the end of this month and the company is aggressively courting Oracle’s (NASDAQ:ORCL) customers by underscoring the ease of switching from Oracle’s product to DB2, according to Business Insider. The shares closed at $209.50, up $0.03 or 0.01% on the day. They have traded in a 52-week range of $157.13 to $209.69.
