Cox Communications on Thursday reached a broad carriage arrangement with The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) which permits it to begin offering its subscribers access to the WatchESPN mobile applications and TV Everywhere website. According to Disney, Cox will introduce WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior next week and also that its subscribers will be allowed to access the upcoming WATCH ABC and WATCH ABC Family applications and websites. Earlier in 2012, Disney announced similar deals with Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ:CMCSA) and Cablevision.
PayPal (NASDAQ:EBAY) moves into the world of cash-loaded prepaid cards with the intro of its fully branded card, the PayPal My Cash Card, which will permit users to load up their PayPal accounts using cash as opposed to bank transfers. The card will be available at pharmacies and discount stores soon.

Discovery Communications (NASDAQ:DISCA) will purchase the SBS Nordic operations of ProSiebenSat.1 Group for a total enterprise value of approximately $1.7 billion. The acquisition includes 12 television networks in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland and further reinforces Discovery’s long-term growth in the strong Nordic TV markets. The transaction should close in early 2013.
Executive Chairman William Lauder of The Estee Lauder Companies (NYSE:EL) said Thursday to CNBC that China and Asia’s long-term development is a great opportunity. Lauder was asked to rate China’s strength on a scale of one to five and he remarked that, “As compared to most of the rest of the world, I’d put China at about a six or seven,” saying further that, “If you look at the long-term prospects for China, they’re extraordinary. You realize that China just in the first phases of a long-term domestic development. They’re building an infrastructure of transportation. They’re building an infrastructure of consumption.”
