Chevron Corporation (NYSE:CVX) reports an additional drilling success by its Australian subsidiary in the Greater Gorgon Area, which is located in the premier hydrocarbon Carnarvon Basin. The Satyr-2 exploration discovery well has confirmed around 28 feet of net gas pay; the well was drilled in 3,570 feet of water to a depth of 12,454 feet. Chevron Australia holds a 50 percent interest in the WA-374-P, of which it is the operator, and Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM) and Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A) each hold 25 percent. The Dow is up 0.30 percent today and stands at 13,605.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) is among the companies that will have available the Galaxy Note II, once it is introduced by Samsung (SSNLF) by the middle of November. The product is a smartphone and tablet hybrid, and will be available in the Unites States at four other top carriers in addition to Verizon, including Sprint Nextel Corporation (NYSE:S), AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T), Deutsche Telekom’s (DTEGY) T-Mobile, and United States Cellular Corporation (NYSE:USM) each of which will announce the exact pricing and retail availability.
