Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) has provided a test version of its new mapping application that will run on Apple’s iPhones and iPads to some individuals outside the company, according to an inside source, who added that the firm has been tweaking around the edges of the application prior to submitting it for approval to the Apple iTunes store, although it is not known exactly when that will happen.

Vringo (AMEX:VRNG) issued a release Wednesday which said that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Vringo Germany GmbH, has brought a patent infringement lawsuit against the ZTE Corporation, (ZTCOY.PK)(ZTCOF.PK) China and its subsidiary in Germany, ZTE Deutschland GmbH. For its part, ZTE describes itself as “a leading global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions,” which recently reported an annual revenue of $13.7 billion, according to filings with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Moreover, the firm is said through filings to generate its revenue for the most part from the sales of telecommunications equipment and handsets.
