With 2013 now here, Time Magazine has made two predictions for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) this new year that, if they come true, will change the way the iPhone maker does business. According to tech specialists Tim and Ben Bajarin, in 2013 Apple will launch a totally new product that is a hybrid between a tablet and a laptop. In addition, the California company will work on stabilizing its manufacturing issues by making a large investment in its supply chain.
The Year of the New?
Discussing the potential new device, Tim Bajarin says that Apple is likely to quickly respond to the growing threat from Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android and Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows, which have already tried creating tablet-laptop combo devices.

“I am going out on a limb with this … but one of the more interesting developments with 10-inch tablets is that if you add Bluetooth keyboards, they become like mini laptops,” Bajarin said. “If these types of products gain serious traction, I believe Apple may need to respond to this growth threat in the same way it has now entered the seven-inch tablet market — despite the fact that Steve Jobs told everyone that Apple would never make a seven-inch tablet.”
The Apple product is likely to be “a sleekly designed hybrid that perhaps has the design lines of the MacBook Air, but with an iPad screen that detaches from its ultra-thin keyboard.”
