Zynga Swings the Axe and 3 Morning Hot Stocks Demanding Attention

Zynga (NASDAQ:ZNGA) takes its cost-cutting further by shutting down 11 games and focus its resources instead on creating new games and improve already successful titles. Games such as PetVille, Mafia Wars 2, Fishville and Indiana Jones Adventure World figure in the list of 11 games getting the axe. The step comes in the wake of the cost reduction plan that CEO Mark Pincus proposed in November.

Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR), the fourth largest cable operator in the United States, announced its long-term distribution agreement with the Walt Disney Co. (NYSE:DIS) to deliver the latter’s content such as sports, news and entertainment to its customers on the full range of devices, including smart phones, tablets, and Internet enabled televisions by the first half of 2013.

AMC Networks (NASDAQ:AMCX) and Time Warner Cable (NYSE:TWC) will keep beaming the IFC and WE TV cable channels beyond today’s midnight deadline for a temporarily extended period while they continue to try and thrash out a long-term carriage renewal deal for the channels. No details were however available on how long the extension would last nor on the status of the long-term carriage negotiations.
