The Facebook Messenger app for smartphones has been around since last year, and the social network is now spending time on developing a tablet version of it. But for now, it will be exclusive for Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad users. After its launch, iPad users will not need to access the full Facebook for iPad application, which has not received great reviews, for messaging their Facebook friends.
An update to the iPhone messenger app also seems to be in line, and will add Microsoft’s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Skype video chat support along with improved performance. The updated messenger app for Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android will follow later. All three apps are likely to be launched this summer.
