Apple’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad Mini will feature a design that trumps that of the standard tablet from the company, an analyst said on Monday. The new, smaller version of the iPad, rumored to be launching this quarter, will have a better “feel”, according to Topeka Capital Markets analyst Brian White.
“Apple did not skimp on the aesthetics of the much anticipated iPad Mini,” Brian White said in a research note sent to client, according to AllThingsD. “In fact, we believe the iPad Mini could outshine the new iPad in terms of how the device feels in a consumer’s hands.”

While the three existing generations of Apple’s iPad have a 9.7-inch screen, speculation is that the company is preparing to launch an iPad Mini that has a display measuring 7.85 inches and an aggressive price range. A lower price will help Apple compete better with new devices from Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) and Google (NASDAQ:GOOG), among others, and help it maintain its massive market lead, analysts believe.
While some reports have suggested the iPad Mini will sport pretty much the same design as the third-generation iPad, albeit with a lower-resolution screen, White’s note hints at additional coveted features. The company is expected to announce the new device at a press event on October 17. According to The Wall Street Journal, Apple has placed more than 10 million iPad Mini orders for the fourth quarter.
Apple has never publicly mentioned the device.
