Toyota Motors (NYSE:TM) has announced that it will unveil a new Lexus coupe at the Tokyo Motor Show on November 20. The brand new Lexus RC is a “striking concept-to-reality coupe” that “explores new frontiers for Lexus” the company said in an announcement.

Two different models of the new vehicle will be on display at the auto show, one called the RC 350 with a 3.5 liter V-6 engine and a hybrid version called the RC 300h with a 2.5 liter engine. “It has been developed to raise the brand’s profile with a broader audience and new-to-Lexus customers. It injects emotional appeal into the Lexus DNA that is synonymous with build quality, refinement, and reliability,” the company said.

Some of the features of the new vehicle that Toyota talks up in the announcement include the car’s wide and low spindle grill, a new painting process that makes colors “come to life” with more brightness and contrast, an “elegant” cabin with design accents made of shimamoku wood, and ultra-comfortable seats made of the same type of foam used in race cars.

Toyota had a good month overall in October, posting a 4.8 percent sales gain year-over-year. Lexus had a 10 percent sales gain in the month, selling 22,719 vehicles, which is good news for Toyota as it prepares its luxury brand for a busy holiday shopping season. Toyota executives were optimistic about the results, saying the numbers show consumers remained interested in the brand despite the government shutdown.

“Consumers showed resiliency in October with steady auto sales despite headwinds caused by the government shutdown,” said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. “The growth in the auto industry continues to play a leading role in the economic recovery, and Toyota is on track for a strong close to the year.”
