Lincoln (NYSE:F) is taking a strong step forward with the arrival of its new MKC crossover, which Ford hopes will help the brand cash in on the growing small SUV and crossover market. Its introduction to the market has been quite anticipated, and leading up to its release, Ford has revealed its price tag.
The MKC, at base, will cost buyers $33,995, inclusive of the necessary destination charges. That puts it at just a bit more than a fully loaded Escape Titanium, on which the car is loosely based, and a bit under the Acura (NYSE:HMC) RDX and the Volvo XC60, which start at $34,520 and $34,850, respectively.
This makes Lincoln’s small utility an aggressively priced entry-level luxury ride, as it comes in well under its competition from Audi (the Q5 starts at $37,300), BMW (the X3 begins at $39,800), and Mercedes (the GLK starts at $37,480).
Buyers can choose from three trim levels,ranging from Premier to Reserve (with Select in between), but there’s no word yet on Lincoln’s Black Label program that is an option for the MKZ sedan.
Premier-loaded MKCs will come standard with active grille shutters, push-button start, remote start, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats, Autoblog reports. Select –which starts a bit higher, as one would expect, at $37,225 — sees the addition of upgraded 18-inch wheels, ambient lighting, daytime running lights, and a Wollsdorf leather-clad steering wheel. The Reserve trim starts at $40,930 and has a panoramic roof, navigation, cooled front seats, and even Wi-Fi capabilities.
With all the options and accoutrements, the Lincoln MKC Reserve will cost $49,370. Each trim has the option of all-wheel drive, and the Select and Reserve trims can be equipped with a Lincoln-exclusive (for now) 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder for $1,140.
