Mercedes-Benz will reveal a redesigned E-Class Coupe on December 14 but photos of the car have already surfaced.

The photos were posted by Belgian website AutoTijd (via Motor1) and reveal a handsome albeit familiar design. The pillar-less glasshouse is particularly beautiful.

We also get a look at the interior which features a design borrowed from the latest E-Class sedan, including the twin screens replacing the usual dashboard displays. There are some unique treatments, too, such as the turbine-like design of the air-conditioner vents.

Mercedes has its own teaser video revealing part of the design.

Underpinning the car is the MRA modular rear-wheel-drive platform that debuted in the 2015 C-Class. It should ensure that the new E-Class Coupe is lighter and more dynamic than the model it replaces.

Adoption of the MRA platform also means the E-Class Coupe will feature a 9-speed automatic transmission and offer all-wheel drive. The platform also affords plug-in hybrid capability.

Regular powertrains should include Mercedes’ next-generation inline-4 and -6 designs. Sadly, we’ve heard that there won’t be a V-8-powered E63 Coupe from Mercedes-AMG. Instead, the Affalterbach tuner is expected to launch a new “50” series trim level based on Mercedes’ next-gen inline-6 engine.

Stay tuned for the full reveal this Wednesday.
