Pagani Huayra Roadster Confirmed for 2016 Monterey Car Week
A spokesman for Pagani confirmed to Autoblog that the new Huayra variant, to be called a Huayra Roadster, will make its debut in mid-August during Monterey Car Week.
The car will be shown privately before going on display August 19 at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. It will likely also be on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance highlight event that each year caps off the Monterey Car Week.
Like the Zonda Roadster before it, the Huayra Roadster should be identical to its coupe sibling, with all of the same mechanical bits. That means power will come from the Mercedes-AMG twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V-12, though hopefully this time producing more than the coupe’s 720 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque.
The coupe’s gull-wing doors will have to go, though. Pagani will likely give the Huayra Roadster a removable roof panel rather than an automated roof (just as it did with the previous Zonda Roadster), which means the curb weight should remain close to the coupe’s 3,000-lb dry weight.
Just 100 Huayra Roadsters are expected to be built, matching the production run of the coupe. Of course, there will likely be limited edition models, too, similar to what we saw with the latest Huayra BC.
