Ashley Greene is best-known for her starring role as the effervescent Alice Cullen in the Twilight saga films. The actress and model began dating Lokai partner Paul Khoury in 2013. He proposed in 2016 during a romantic getaway to Australia and New Zealand.
He popped the question at the bottom of the appropriately-named Bridal Veil Falls. “This is the most beautiful moment I could have ever hoped for,” Greene captioned an Instagram video Khoury took for the occasion. “You’ve successfully made me the happiest, luckiest woman alive. I can’t wait to show you my unfaltering immeasurable love for the rest of our lives.”
Greene’s California wedding gave us some serious Twilight vibes in all its earthy, romantic glory. Plus, why we’re unsure if any of her Twilight costars were invited to the nuptials.
The ceremony took place out in the woods
The couple is a big fan of outdoor yoga, hiking, and nature in general, so naturally, their ceremony took place in the redwoods near Silicon Valley in California.
“Paul and I both grew up fully immersed in the outdoor elements and were raised to appreciate the beauty in nature,” Greene told Brides magazine. “An outdoor wedding was a must for us.” They settled on the also appropriately-named Nestldown, a retreat in the redwoods near Silicon Valley. “Paul and I were blown away when we drove up for a visit,” she said. “We knew it was the place to start our lives together.”
They hired celebrity wedding planner Mindy Weiss to help them bring to life their vision of “a dreamy woodland, inspired by the verdant nature of the venue’s surroundings.”
Similar to her character Alice’s love for partner Jasper Cullen, Greene expressed how deeply she cared for husband Khoury in their unique wedding vows. “The ceremony was beautiful,” a source told People before sharing the emotional details of the couple’s “I do ” moment.
“Paul and Ashley [played] rock-paper-scissors to decide who would say their vows first during the ceremony. Ashley ended up ‘losing’ and went first,” the insider shared. “They wrote their own vows. They talked about being best friends and how they made each other better people.”
A close friend of the couple, Dave Osokow (a self-described “Hollywood connector”), officiated the wedding ceremony. “[He] cracked jokes so there were also light-hearted moments,” the source said. Greene told Brides magazine about Dave’s “flair for comedy” and agreed he kept the event “light and fun.”
The intimate wedding was filled with celebrities
Greene said in 2017 how important her fellow Twilight cast members were to her — but it’s still unclear if any of them attended her wedding.
“They were such a huge part of my life for such a long time,” she told People at the time. When asked if they’d receive invitations, she said; “I think that’s also going to be depending on whether it’s going to be an intimate wedding.”
The event was certainly still star-studded. Famous guests included Eiza González, Josh Duhamel, Evan Ross, Lauren and Aaron Paul, and Brittany Snow. Photographers caught the friends of the bride and groom sipping martinis, playing games like life-sized Jenga, and even petting the pony Greene and Khoury had at the reception.
