Quick and Easy Toaster Oven Snack Recipes You’ll Love

Snacks shouldn’t take a lot of time or effort. When you’re hungry right now, who wants to wait for an oven to preheat? Enter toaster oven snacks. This counter-top appliance can do everything a full-size oven can do, but in less time and with less fuss. That means you can get delicious food into your belly fast.

But toaster oven snacks aren’t just for those in a rush. Dorm-dwelling college students, people living in tiny apartments without full kitchens, and those suffering through a heat wave can also take advantage of the convenience of a toaster oven to make one of these six delicious small bites.

Jalapeño poppers a bit too hot for you? Try these mini stuffed sweet peppers instead, which are filled with creamy seasoned goat cheese and a little honey. To prepare this no-fuss snack, just slice the peppers in half and de-seed, then stuff with the cheese, and pop in the toaster oven. This recipe from A Spicy Perspective feeds a crowd, but you can scale it down if you just want a small bite for yourself.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ pounds mini bell peppers (or use a mix of mini bell peppers and jalapeños)
  • 12 ounces garlic and herb seasoned chevre goat cheese
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • Salt
  • Finely chopped fresh herbs (optional)

Directions: Preheat toaster oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Slice the peppers in half and remove the seeds. Place cut side up on the prepared baking sheet. (If you are making the full recipe, you may need to work in batches.) Fill each with a generous spoonful of the seasoned goat cheese. Drizzle with a bit of honey. If you like, lightly sprinkle with salt and top with finely chopped fresh herbs.

Bake for 10 minutes. Serve immediately.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons flour (preferably whole-wheat pastry flour)
  • 1½ tablespoons peanut butter
  • 1/16 teaspoon baking soda
  • Very scant 1/16 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon applesauce (more if using dry sweetener)
  • A few chocolate chips (optional)

Directions: Preheat toaster oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mix all the dry ingredients together in a small bowl. Add the peanut butter, vanilla, maple syrup, and applesauce. Stir in the chocolate chips if using. Forget delivery. These mini pita pizzas are ready in 10 minutes and can be made with ingredients you probably have in your kitchen, like jarred marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Customize your pie with whatever toppings you have on hand and then enjoy a fresh slice in less time than it takes to order delivery. This recipe from Full-Thyme Student makes one small pizza.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pita bread, about 6 inches in diameter, preferably whole wheat
  • 3 tablespoons jarred marinara sauce
  • ½ garlic clove, finely minced (optional)
  • ¼ teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Cooked Italian sausage (or substitute pepperoni, cooked chicken, sliced mushrooms, or sliced bell peppers)
  • ½ tablespoon chopped fresh herbs, such as parsley or basil (optional)

Directions: Preheat toaster oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a small baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper.

Place the pita on the prepared baking sheet. If the pita isn’t completely flat, make sure the scooped side is up, like a plate or shallow bowl. Spread 3 tablespoons marinara sauce on the pita, leaving a ½-inch border around the edge. Sprinkle with the minced garlic and dried oregano, if using. Top with an even layer of 3 tablespoons shredded cheese. Top with the cooked sausage and any other toppings you like.

Bake in the toaster oven for 8 to 10 minutes, until the bread is lightly toasted and the cheese melted. Remove pizza from oven, sprinkle with fresh herbs, slice, and serve.

Vegetarians and carnivores alike will enjoy snacking on these crispy tofu bites, which are seasoned with a tasty honey-garlic sauce. About 5 minutes before the tofu has finished baking, prepare the sauce. Warm the honey, soy, and garlic in a small pan over medium heat until thick and bubbly. Season to taste with freshly ground black pepper.

Remove the tofu from the toaster oven and toss with the sauce. Garnish with the green onions and sesame seeds, then serve.
