The Most Popular Dog Breeds in New York, Los Angeles, and Other American Cities

The American Kennel Club recently released its most popular dog breed list and once again, the Labrador retriever is America’s favorite — the dog breed has won top dog in the country now for 27 consecutive years. That said, the Lab doesn’t always reign supreme in some U.S. American cities.

Keep reading to find out which major U.S. cities — including Los Angeles on page 7 and New York on page 5 — claim which dog breeds as their favorites. Although the Lab does capture some cities’ hearts as their No. 1, you’ll be surprised at which other breeds dominate different areas of the U.S.

1. Atlanta

The ATL. Hotlanta. A-town. Whatever you call Atlanta, it’s known for its Southern hospitality; the Braves, Falcons, and Hawks; and its diverse musical heritage. Here are the five top dog breeds walking the streets of Atlanta, according to the AKC:
