Meghan’s ring contains diamonds from Princess Diana’s collection
In an interview with the BBC, Prince Harry spoke about creating Meghan Markle’s engagement ring. “The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana, and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together,” Harry said.
Hint: Meghan followed in Diana’s footsteps with her vows.
Meghan’s vows were similar to Diana’s
Meghan’s vows may have given those who watched Princess Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles deja vu. Meghan promised to love, comfort, and honor her husband but not “obey” him. And Diana chose to say the same. Plus, Kate Middleton also used these vows, according to Good Housekeeping.
Hint: Look closely at the flowers.
The flowers paid tribute to Diana
The couple’s florist, Philippa Craddock, used seasonal flowers. And she included the bride’s favorite, peonies, in arrangements. Also included were white roses in honor of Princess Diana. A number of roses are named after her, according to Good Housekeeping.

Diana’s favorite flower was on display
Forget-me-nots, Princess Diana’s favorite flower, were used in Meghan’s bouquet, according to People. Prince Harry picked forget-me-nots from his and Meghan’s private garden the day before their wedding to include in Meghan’s bouquet.
Hint: This song made Prince Harry tear up.
They played a hymn also played at Diana’s funeral
During the couple’s hour-long ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, a hymn played that nearly brought Prince Harry to tears. Everyone sang “Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer,” which also played at Princess Diana’s funeral.
Hint: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked for this instead of gifts.
They asked for donations, not gifts
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked for donations to charities in lieu of wedding gifts. And two of their seven handpicked charities were close to Diana’s heart. She worked with the Children’s HIV Association and Centrepoint, an organization to help homeless youth.
