These Are the Weirdest Rumors About What Melania Trump Has Been Doing Since Donald Trump Became President

Melania Trump is a notoriously private person. But that sort of personality type isn’t necessarily well-suited to the very public role of first lady. Still, when your husband is elected president, the job becomes yours whether you like it or not.

The first lady is taking to her new duties cautiously and attempting to stay out of the spotlight as much as possible. USA Today referred to her as “elusive and enigmatic” while speculating that she’ll exert more influence in 2018.

In the meantime, numerous news outlets have been gossiping about what Melania Trump has been up to since assuming her most recent role. Read on for the weirdest rumors regarding the first lady’s activities in the White House.

1. Finding an exorcist to cleanse the White House of demons

In February 2018, the unverified news source YourNewsWire, along with other disreputable outlets, stated that Melania Trump “demanded the White House undergo a complete exorcism, with pagan idols and demonic artifacts from the Clinton and Obama years removed from the premises before she would set foot in the building.”

These rumors came from an interview with evangelical pastor Paul Begley, who is not affiliated with the White House. A spokeswoman for Melania said the rumor is, “not true in any way.”

All eyes are on former fashion model Melania, who has a leg up on some former first ladies when it comes to choosing stylish clothing options. But she managed to raise a few eyebrows on New Year’s Eve 2017 when she showed up in a frock that closely resembled a shower curtain pattern.

But don’t believe everything you see on the internet — it turns out this rumor was just another Photoshop hoax. The dress is from the Emery collection and worth thousands. Meanwhile, the original bathroom image can be found on Allie Boss’ Instagram feed. While the shower curtain in the photo has a floral print, it’s not even close to the same pattern as Melania’s gown.

Facebook user Andrea Wagner Barton posted a photo depicting an image of a “fake” first lady standing next to the president at a press conference. The viral image captured from video makes her look like an imposter — but that’s not really the case.

Either the photo was doctored or the television image quality was poor. In either case, Melania did not hire a body double to stand in for her. Other news sources show still images from the same day that clearly show Melania Trump looking just like herself and not a cheap imposter.

Rumors swirled that the first lady is spending her time banning White House staff from getting flu shots because she believes them to have “adverse health effects.”

Again the news originated with disreputable news source YourNewsWire. They reported: “Melania Trump says that as far as she is concerned, she won’t have people endangering her son with their ‘dangerous’ flu shot diseases.”

Snopes ruled this rumor false when major news outlets failed to pick up on the claim, saying it didn’t have any basis in reality.

Ever since the Stormy Daniels interview on 60 Minutes, Melania has been hiding out from the media even more than usual. Porn star Daniels claims she engaged in consensual sexual activity with Donald Trump in 2006, just one year after he wed Melania.

Melania extended her stay at Mar-a-Lago in late March 2018. A spokewoman said, “She’s focused on being a mom and is quite enjoying spring break at Mar-a-Lago while working on future projects,”

But it’s not the first time Melania fled to the resort for spa treatments in the face of controversy. She also headed to Mar-a-Lago for a short impromptu visit when the Stormy Daniels story first broke in January 2018.

Rumors of Donald and Melania’s imminent divorce have been circulating ever since he was elected president, if not before. The Stormy Daniels controversy in early 2018 spurred more gossip about the pair getting ready to split.

The rumor mill cites Melania’s apparent disinterest in her husband, their separate bedrooms, and frequent absences as evidence that they’re headed down the road to divorce. So far, nothing is confirmed except that she’d like her 12-year-old son left alone.

“While I know the media is enjoying speculation & salacious gossip, I’d like to remind people there’s a minor child who’s [sic] name should be kept out of news stories when at all possible,” spokesperson Stephanie Grisham tweeted on March 25th.

There’s more than one instance of Melania Trump being accused of plagiarizing former first lady Michelle Obama.

It all started with Melania’s 2016 convention speech, which featured similar phrases that were in Michelle’s 2008 speech. Melania’s in-house speech writer eventually took the blame for the “unattributed quotes.”

Subsequent accusations of plagiarism include Melania’s criticism of the Charlottesville violence, Melania’s UN speech, a Martin Luther King Day tweet, and a statement on Women’s History Month. Snopes deemed all these rumors false.

Some websites claimed that Melania issued a ban on all Monsanto products in the White House after learning the dangers of consuming genetically modified foods. It turned out that the original source was quoting an interview Melania Trump had with Yes! Magazine in 2010 and the ban was never instituted since she became first lady.

Melania took to Twitter to boast that her first week in 2018 was productive with “meetings, meetings & more meetings!” She told her followers she was looking forward to the year ahead as the first lady, but the question is: What are all these meetings for? In 2017, the first lady tweeted about an upcoming meeting with the president and Thomas Price, former secretary of Health and Human Services, about the opioid crisis.

Melania made a pledge to tackle the opioid crisis the U.S. is facing after the president declared it a national emergency. The White House released a statement regarding the first lady’s plans, which said, “Opioid abuse is an escalating health crisis affecting countless families across the country,” the statement said. “The well-being of children is a priority for the first lady, and this epidemic affects them in many different ways, so she requested to attend today’s briefing.”

Although the Trumps employ a full-time nanny to watch after Barron, Melania Trump has gone on record multiple times saying she’s an extremely hands-on parent. “I am a full-time mom; that is my first job. The most important job ever. I started my business when he started school,” she told Parenting.

Ivanka Trump received criticism for barely mentioning her two nannies in her book Women Who Work, and it remains unclear how much Melania Trump takes care of Barron compared to her hired nannies. In 2015, she shared that she prepared breakfast and lunch for Barron, dropped him off and picked him up from school, and spent time after school with him, as well.
