We know, this sounds crazy because there are few things worse than a soggy, hot salad. But, for some reason, grilled salad is weirdly delicious. All you need is a head of romaine lettuce cut lengthwise, some olive oil, steak seasoning, and lemon juice. And presto! You have the perfect salad to go with your juicy grilled steak.

Skewers were made for the grill, but watermelon and feta cheese? No way, it can’t be! Oh but it can be, young grillers. In fact, Martha Stewart herself recommends this winning summery combination.

“Juicy watermelon gets a heavenly charred note from the heat of the grill. Salty feta and fresh basil bring it back down to earth,” reads her site.

5. Guacamole

Take the skin off your avocados and plop ’em right on the grill for the smokiest, yummiest guacamole you’ll ever have. Keep them there until they start to get those nice char lines and then smash them into a bowl along with the rest of your favorite guac ingredients for an extremely smooth dip.
