You Won’t Believe Donald Trump’s Weirdest Habits at the White House

We all have strange habits that we’d rather not let people see. But hiding isn’t an option for someone in the public spotlight. No matter how much he might want to keep them secret, the president of the United States can’t disguise his strangest idiosyncrasies from all the people he sees any given day.

Donald Trump is an unconventional president for a multitude of reasons. But perhaps some of the strangest aspects of his personality are his strange habits in daily life. Ahead, discover President Trump’s weirdest habits in the White House.

1. No one besides Trump can touch the remote

Even with his busy schedule, Trump makes time for about four hours of television per day, including shows like Fox & Friends and Morning Joe. He even watching the scrolling headlines during meetings with the television on mute. But according to White House sources, the president is the only one who’s allowed to handle the remote. Sounds a little controlling

2. He often drinks 12 cans of Diet Coke in one day

There’s a button on Trump’s desk that he uses to alert household staff that his Diet Coke can is empty and he needs another. He’s notorious for pressing that button all day long.

3. He stresses out when he’s not in the headlines

According to a New York Times profile, Trump becomes irritated when news sources fail to mention his name. “One former top adviser said Mr. Trump grew uncomfortable after two or three days of peace and could not handle watching the news without seeing himself on it,” the newspaper reported.

4. He’s obsessed with the White House bathrooms

When Trump offers tours of the White House, he naturally shows off all the historical areas, like the Lincoln bedroom and Truman balcony. But according to the Times, he also has “an odd affinity for showing off bathrooms, including one he renovated near the Oval Office.”

5. He feasts on fast food

Trump has access to any chef and any type of cuisine he could imagine. Still, one of his favorite meals comes in a paper bag. Trump loves eating at McDonald’s, where he orders a Filet-O-Fish, Big Mac, or Quarter Pounder. He also ate Kentucky Fried Chicken and Burger King while he was on the campaign trail.

6. He tweets more than any former president

Having an active Twitter account is perfectly normal. But when you’re the president of the United States? It’s a little bizarre using social media as a sounding board for every thought that pops into your head.

7. He never drinks

Trump famously abstains from alcohol and encourages his kids to do the same. The reason behind his teetotaling is sad: his brother Fred passed away from complication relating to alcoholism.

“I’ve never had a drink,” Donald Trump told Fox News after his election in 2016. “If you don’t start you’re never going have a problem. If you do start you might have a problem. And it’s a tough problem to stop,” he said.

8. He avoids handshakes

Trump is a notorious germaphobe and thinks that society should do away with handshakes as a form of greeting.

In his book The Art of the Comeback, he said, “One of the curses of American society is the simple act of shaking hands, and the more successful and famous one becomes the worse this terrible custom seems to get. I happen to be a clean hands freak. I feel much better after I thoroughly wash my hands, which I do as much as possible.”

9. He likes straightening up

Blame this one on a nervous habit. Trump is often seen rearranging items on the table during meetings, including coasters, papers, and glasses. The weirdest thing is that he doesn’t always stick to his own area — he also reaches over and tidies other people’s stuff.

10. He skips sleeping

According to sources, the president is an insomniac and sometimes only sleeps three to four hours per night. Lack of sleep can lead to health problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease.
