1 ‘Hamilton’ Remix Features Former President Barack Obama
From Prince Harry Duke of Sussex to Beyoncé to Julie Andrews, Hamilton has a list of impressive celebrity fans. Even Former President Barack Obama appears on one remix of “One Last Time.” He took his involvement one step further, though, inviting the cast to perform at the White House.
‘Hamilton’ is a fan-favorite Tony-award winning musical
As one of the most awarded Broadway productions, Hamilton premiered in 2015. Since then, fans and celebrities fell in love with the story of the Founding Fathers, told through hip-hop songs. Singer Beyoncé Knowles-Carter shared that she loves King George’s walk.
Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex even sang part of “You’ll Be Back.” President Barack Obama, though, even appears on one remix of the song “One Last Time,” which tells the story of George Washington stepping down from his role as President.

In the stage production of the show, Alexander Hamilton begins the address, followed by George Washington singing it. For this remix, though, Former President Barack Obama reads George Washington’s Farewell Address.
Barack Obama has been a fan of this musical even before he was a featured speaker for one track. In fact, the original Broadway cast, including Lin-Manuel Miranda, paid a visit to the White House to perform for the Obama family and some guests.
The original Broadway cast performed songs from ‘Hamilton’ at the White House
Since its Broadway debut, this production took its show on the road for one impressive performance. That was for a small audience at the White House for Former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. The President opened the show, speaking about his love for the production and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s idea for the hip-hop musical.
“Seven years ago, Lin-Manuel Miranda came to the White House Poetry Jam,” President Obama said. “And he took the mic and he announced that he and his musical collaborator, Alex Lacamoire that they were going to perform a song from a hip-hop album they were working on, and I’m quoting him, ‘about the life of somebody who embodies hip-hop, Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton.’ And so we all started laughing, but Lin-Manuel was serious. And who’s laughing now?”
“Obviously, since that time, Hamilton has become a phenomenon, a smash hit. It’s taken Broadway by storm, captivating the entire country, winning tons of awards, turned musical haters into diehard fans,” he continued. “It has become a favorite in the Obama household.”
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, fans will have a wait a little longer to see the production of Hamilton live on Broadway. Until then, Hamilton is now available for streaming on Disney+. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.
