1 ‘Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Actor First Appeared in Disney Channel’s ‘Descendants 2’
Ducks fly together, even though the team is somewhat different now. Instead of Coach Bombay, Coach T is in charge of these champions, even cutting some players to make his team better.
Disney+ created their own ‘The Mighty Ducks’ spinoff, ‘Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’
The Mighty Ducks are back with the Disney+ original series, Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Now, however, this hockey team is somewhat different from the players of the original The Mighty Ducks film.
After getting cut from the Ducks, Evan and his mother decided to make their own hockey team, the Don’t Bothers, and even got the help of the hockey legend, Gordon Bombay. However, there was another coach standing in their way.
1 actor from Disney Channel’s ‘Descendants 2’ and ‘Descendants 3’ appeared in this Disney+ original series
Playfair had a role in more than just the Disney+ spinoff of The Mighty Ducks. In Disney Channel’s Descendants 2, this actor played the son of the iconic Disney villain, Gaston, from Beauty and the Beast.
He wasn’t the brightest of the VKs, but he was one of Uma’s helpers in the Isle. The character returned for the third Descendants movie, as well as the short, Under the Sea: A Descendants Story.
In Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, this actor portrayed the coach of the Mighty Ducks, named “Coach T.” It was Playfair’s character who first cut Evan from the team and then tried to win him back again.
Emilio Estevez reprised his role as the hockey legend Gordon Bombay
Ducks fly together, but this duck lost his way. Gordon Bombay is one of the reasons for the Mighty Ducks and their success. During one interview with Screenrant, the actor behind Gordon Bombay discussed the changes for his character.
“Well, specifically for Bombay, what’s changed is that life has not been particularly good to him — certainly the hockey world hasn’t been good to him,” Estevez said. “And when we find him, he’s living at the Ice Palace, which he’s inherited from Jan…”
“He’s in a pretty bad place,” he continued. “He’s not the guy that we last saw at the end of D3. He’s a guy that is kind of broken and disengaged and sad and hiding. So, it takes Lauren’s character and the new group of kids to re-engage him by way of practicing at the ice rink.”
New episodes of the original series, Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, premiere on a weekly basis on Disney’s streaming platform. In the meantime, Descendants 2 and Descendants 3 are both available on Disney+.
