13 Actors Who Have Admitted to Using Marijuana
It actually shouldn’t be that surprising that a lot of actors like to smoke pot, especially since Hollywood is located in a state where weed is legal to buy as long as you have a medical card. Some actors actually need the drug for their health. But others have openly talked about smoking just to relax during their off time. So which actors have spoken up about their love for the drug? These 13 are all for it becoming completely legal in the states!
1. Morgan Freeman
The actor is pretty distinguished and played God in multiple movies. So many people might not picture him lighting up a joint. But he does that and so much more! “My first wife got me into it many years ago,” he told Daily Beast. “How do I take it? However it comes! I’ll eat it, drink it, smoke it, snort it!” The actor is very much supportive of decriminalization of the drug. This is partially because he uses it for his health.
“Marijuana has many useful uses,” Morgan Freeman continued. “I have fibromyalgia pain in this arm, and the only thing that offers any relief is marijuana. They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!”
2. Jennifer Aniston
The funny woman also likes to relax with a joint in her hand. But don’t jump to the assumption that she’s a stoner! It’s just something she likes here or there. “I enjoy it once in a while,” she told Rolling Stone referring to weed. “There is nothing wrong with that. Everything in moderation. I wouldn’t call myself a pot-head.”
3. Seth Rogen
Of course this comedian had to make the list. Most of his characters happen to be stoners. Because of this, Seth Rogen seems to feel free to talk about his real use of marijuana. In order to celebrate his movie, The Interview he tweeted “We are going to do a screening of #TheInterviewMovie in Colorado where I get baked with everyone first, and we can smoke weed in the theater.” Well that’s one way to meet your fans!
4. Lady Gaga
The singer and actress actually used to smoke 15 joints a day due to pain in her hip. But she has since then significantly cut down. “I cold-turkeyed,” she told Attitude magazine. “For weeks and weeks I didn’t smoke at all. And now I smoke a little bit at night, just you know, for fun — but not to cope. That’s the difference. Marina was the only person who could get me to do that and it was not intended to be rehab.” It’s a good thing she found a healthier balance!
5. Kate Hudson
The beautiful actress is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and comes across as a hippie child. So it may not be that surprising that she likes to smoke weed. When asked if she lit up with How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days costar, Matthew McConaughey on Watch What Happens Live she answered, “Probably at some point, yeah.” That’s one way to get closer to your character’s love interest.
6. Snoop Dogg
Even those of you who aren’t familiar with his music or acting work know about his love for weed. That’s because he talks about it so openly. In an interview with NY Mag he said he starts his mornings by lighting up. So why does he love the drug so much? “Cannabis keeps me feeling good and allows me to be more creative,” explained the actor “which is important as an artist. You gotta keep feeling inspired. Weed relaxes you and opens your mind. It can also make you laugh, which is a great form of medicine.”
8. Miley Cyrus
The actress is pretty straight forward about her weed use to the point where she post pictures of it. Some might not think that’s very smart, but she explained why she does it. “I put pictures of me smoking weed, I’m not going to lie, on my Instagram because I was brought up in the way that we never thought marijuana was bad,” Cyrus told Yahoo!. “I don’t promote it in my songs or say it, it’s not like I’m sitting around telling a bunch of kids to do a bunch of drugs.”
9. Megan Fox
The beautiful actress isn’t afraid to speak out against America’s war on drugs. “It’s all propaganda,” she told GQ. “I can’t tell you how much bullsh*t I’ve been through because I will openly say that I smoke weed… People look at it like it’s this crazy, hippy, f**ked-up thing to do. And it’s not! I hope they legalize it and when they do I’ll be the first f**king person in line to buy my pack of joints.”
10. Cameron Diaz
Believe it or not Cameron Diaz has more things in common with Snoop Dogg than you’d think. She went to high school with the rapper and did business with him. “I’m pretty sure I bought weed from him,” Diaz said on Lopez Tonight. “I was green even in high school!”
The singer and actress definitely is more into the party scene. So it’s no surprise that she is out spoken about smoking weed. On David Letterman, the host asked her what had her acting so differently. She said, “It wasn’t because I was excited about you. I think it may have had something to do with the joint I smoked before I came on.” Well that’s one way to prepare for an interview.
12. Louis C.K.
The comedian also takes the drug from time to time. But it’s not always easy for him. “I do very little [weed]. It’s like every couple weeks,” he said on the Opie & Jim Norton Show. “I’m very paranoid about drug use. If I get high like twice in a week, I’m like ‘I have a problem’ and I stop. Because I don’t think it’s good for comics — getting high. It takes your will away and it makes you too comfortable. So I don’t do it a lot, and I got kids, [so] I can’t be f**king around with that sh*t. But once every couple weeks, [I] smoke a little marijuana. I bought a big thing of marijuana like 10 years ago, so I smoke very old marijuana. It’s really old and dusty.”
13. Kristen Stewart
The actress has been caught in pictures lighting up. It sort of affected her image, but she says she doesn’t care. “You can Google my name and one of the first things that comes up is images of me sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and my dog,” she told Vanity Fair. “It was [taken] the day the movie came out. I was no one. I was a kid. I had just turned 18. In [the tabloids] the next day it was like I was a delinquent slimy idiot, whereas I’m kind of a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot. Big deal. But that changed my daily life instantly.”
