Every week, we take an in-depth look at the latest rumors coming out of Hollywood, from casting news to rumored directorial choices to the latest TV revivals. This week brought us plenty more gossip, including the latest A-list casting for Stephen King’s The Dark Tower movie and the latest rumors surrounding Netflix’s upcoming Marvel series, Iron Fist. Below, check out five of the biggest Hollywood rumors of the week.
1. Aaron Paul might join The Dark Tower
According to the rumor mill, the former Breaking Bad star will be signing on to take on the role of Eddie Dean in the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower. Warner Bros. has yet to confirm anything, but Paul and King’s recent Twitter exchange certainly seems hopeful. “Dear @StephenKing, How goes it my friend? So, about these Dark Tower rumors. What are your thoughts? Could you put in a good word for me?,” Paul wrote on Twitter. King later responded, “Indeed I will. I’m a big fan.”
As of now, the casting remains a rumor, but Paul would join the likes of Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba, if he officially boards the project.
2. Sylvester Stallone may have a role in Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2
Earlier this week, Stallone was photographed on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, sparking rumors that he may have a role in the upcoming superhero blockbuster. Neither Marvel or director James Gunn have commented on the speculation, but a new report from Heroic Hollywood claims that Stallone will indeed be a part of the movie. According to the site, the actor will be playing a new member of Yondu’s team of Ravagers and has reportedly already shot several scenes. The Ravagers weren’t as much of a focus in the original Guardians of the Galaxy, but if Stallone’s casting is true, it seems the group is set to get more screen time in the upcoming sequel.
3. These four characters might appear in Netflix’s Iron Fist
Following the casting of Finn Jones as Danny Rand in Marvel’s Iron Fist, more rumors about the upcoming Netflix are starting to circulate. According to MCU Exchange and The Hashtag Show, these four characters will be included on the show alongside the titular hero for hire: Coleen Wing (aka Lady Samurai), well-known Iron Fist supervillain Davos (aka the Steel Serpent) and Joy and Ward Meachum, whom are both part of Danny’s life.
Marvel has yet to confirm these details, so take this with a grain of salt for now. Still, it sounds like the show’s supporting cast is starting to round out.
4. Daisy Ridley could be the new Lara Croft
Following a star-making turn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ridley’s reportedly now in line to take another iconic franchise: Tomb Raider. According to Deadline, Ridley is on the shortlist of actresses being eyed to play the lead role of Lara Croft in Warner Bros. upcoming reboot. Though conversations have reportedly already taken place, it’s still early on and no official negotiations or offers have happened just yet. Producers are reportedly keeping their options open for now, so we’ll have to stay tuned to see whether Ridley will officially nab the widely coveted role.
5. Bryan Singer may bring Red Sonja series to TV
Another Marvel comics may soon be coming to the small screen. A recent rumor from BleedingCool.com claims that X-Men director Bryan Singer is secretly developing a TV adaptation of the comic series centering on high fantasy sword and sorcery heroine, Red Sonja. According to the report, the project will reportedly be R-rated and is hoping to land on a premium cable network like Showtime and HBO or streaming service like Netflix and Amazon. Per BleedingCool, Singer will both direct and produce the series. Marvel, for its part, has not yet commented on the potential show.
