5 Hollywood Rumors: Will ‘Deadpool 2’ Feature This X-Force Member?
Every week, we take an in-depth look at the latest rumors coming out of Hollywood, from casting news to rumored directorial choices to the latest TV revivals. This week brought us plenty more gossip, including the latest additions to the Deadpool sequel and the next potential solo series from DC Comics. Below, check out five of the biggest Hollywood rumors this week.
1. Deadpool 2 could feature Domino
We already know that Deadpool 2 will feature X-Force leader Cable, but he may not be the only X-Force member joining the movie. According to new reports, the sequel will also feature Deadpool buddy, Domino. Per Heroic Hollywood, Domino will be one of the new names added to the roster of superheroes in Deadpool 2. For those who don’t know, Domino’s mutant ability — along with the standard hand-to-hand-combat skills — is the power to manipulate probability. In the comics, she joins the team of mercenaries, The Six Pack, where she meets longtime friend, Cable.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, so take this for a grain of salt now. But her addition would support Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds’s previous statements about eventually making an X-Force movie.
2. Daniel Craig is done with James Bond
The rumor that just won’t die has come back around, this time courtesy of The Shortlist. According to the publication, Mark Strong, who is good friends with Craig, recently discussed the possibility of joining the franchise, and he made it clear the Bond star isn’t looking to return to the iconic role.
“I’d have loved to have played the villain in a Bond movie while Daniel was doing it because he’s a pal and that would have been great,” The Shortlist quotes Strong as saying. “I think he’s come to the end of his Bond time and so it’s probably never going to happen, but that would have always been great. Having played so many villains, it would have been wonderful to have done the villain of villains, if you like. Because a Bond villain has a status all of his own.”
Craig has yet to officially confirm his departure, although he has suggested that his time in the role is basically up. In the meantime, let the speculation over the next possible Bond continue.
3. CBS’s Limitless might be in trouble
Given its strong performance early in its freshman season, CBS’s adaptation of Limitless seemed like a strong contender for renewal. But recent ratings may be putting a second season in question. Per TVLine, the show’s most recent episode drew series lows, pulling in 5.9 million total viewers and a 1.1 demo rating. While that may not seem all that bad outwardly, it’s fairly low in comparison to other shows in its time slot and definitely low by CBS’s standards. So does this mean Limitless could find its future in jeopardy? It can’t be counted out just yet (especially given that the show has the backing of a major star like Bradley Cooper), but Limitless might not be as safe as we all initially thought.
4. Vixen may be getting her own live action solo series
The CW’s Arrow recently brought DC superhero Vixen to live action with Megalyn E.K., the same actress who played her in the tie-in animated series. Fans liked the character enough that they instantly started wondering about the potential for a Vixen solo series. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently addressed the rumors, suggesting that a Vixen series could be a possibility — but not until next year.
“I think this year, we’re taking it easy and seeing what happens … I think anyone who appears anywhere on any of these shows has the potential to be more if there’s a demand for it from the studio and the network, and certainly the biggest demanders would be the audience,” Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. “That’s why we try to cast these parts almost in a way as potential series leads or series regulars. That’s why even when we did the cartoon version of Vixen that we got someone like Megalyn, who we knew had the potential to portray her in live action as opposed to just finding some random guest voice actor.
Kreisberg’s comments back up those made by CW president Mark Pedowitz, who recently suggested that the character had potential to either spin out or eventually join the network’s team-up show, Legends of Tomorrow. We’ll have to stay tuned for more details, but fans can also catch the second animated season of Vixen on The CW later this year.
5. Deadpool could appear in an upcoming X-Men movie
Deadpool’s raunchy attitude doesn’t exactly coincide with X-Men‘s more PG-13 stance, but the character’s smashing success at the box office and newfound popularity begs an obvious question: Will he appear in an X-Men movie moving forward? Deadpool writers/producers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick recently addressed the possibility to CinemaBlend, confirming that there is a chance that Deadpool could show up in an X-Men film later on.
“Absolutely. I mean absolutely, as much we could see X-Men [characters] in the Deadpool universe, we could see Deadpool in the X-Men universe,” Wernick said. “And we even have some fun ideas about that. That’s more [a] Simon Kinberg question. He’s the keeper of the X-Men universe, but in terms of like, ‘Could he pop up in, you know, you know, any of the upcoming X-Men movies?’ Absolutely. As long as it’s done right, I think we would embrace it.”
