5 Marvel Movies to Watch on Netflix Before ‘Avengers: Endgame’
With Avengers: Endgame fast approaching, it’s time for a little Marvel mania. So, grab the popcorn, don your favorite Avengers costume, and plop yourself on the couch for a couple of – more like several – enthralling hours in front of the TV.
If you’re not planning to rent a bunch of movies, and you don’t want to attend one of AMC’s Avengers movie marathons, Netflix should scratch the Avengers itch until Endgame comes out on April 26.
While every single installment in this long-culminating saga is not available on the streaming platform, five Marvel movies are at your Netflix disposal. So, here’s the list (in no particular order). If you’ve seen them all, you can choose the order you watch them in this time around.
1) ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ (2018)
You can’t have a Marvel movie marathon in preparation for Endgame without Infinity War; it’s part one of the two-part finale. And lucky for you, Infinity War is on Netflix, and most likely currently sitting in the trending spot.
Since Infinity War will serve to get you the most hyped for the final film, you should probably save this one for last, and watch it the day before, or even a few hours, before you go see Endgame.
Infinity War represents the only Avengers film in which the good guys do not win at the end, and this is because the writers knew that Endgame was on the horizon. So, save their failure for last; it will make their inevitable upcoming triumph (hopefully) all the more gratifying.
2) ‘Black Panther’ (2018)
Watching Chadwick Boseman – and his stunt doubles – master 10 different combat styles in this film is awe-inspiring. The fight sequences are always exciting and shocking, as you never know if Black Panther is going to take an acrobatic and agile approach to the fight or engage in a more hand-to-hand combat style.
The only Marvel film ever nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, Black Panther needs to be on your Marvel movie marathon list.
3) ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ (2017)
While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may focus on the truth behind Peter’s parentage, it will also serve to remind you how mad we are that Gamora is gone. The movie will also bring back all those feelings that surfaced when you realized the extent of Gamora’s relationship with Thanos.
While the Avengers movies may be superhero sagas, they’ve been going for the heartstrings as of late. Let us not bring up the whole Tony Stark – Peter Parker relationship.
4) ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (2017)
Thor is trapped on the other side of the universe and pitted against the Hulk. Thor: Ragnarok is an enjoyable action-ride that showed viewers just how funny Thor could be. The movie also reveals the backstory as to why Bruce Banner’s Hulk isn’t so happy with him (should you need a little refresher).
5) Ant-Man and the Wasp (2017)
Watching Ant-Man fight alongside the Wasp is satisfying on two levels: it’s always fun to see two heroes team up and watching Paul Rudd respond to all of Michael Douglas’ obvious hints that he is a less qualified hero than his counterpart, never gets old. Considering Ant-Man appears in the upcoming Avengers film, it’s also very likely that this movie will provide some helpful refreshers and insights.
