5 Must-See TV and Movie Trailers: ‘X-Men Apocalypse’ and More

With each week, we inch closer to some of the year’s most anticipated releases. That’s always coming to come with a slate of exciting new trailers, and that’s exactly what we’ve brought you for this week. The group we have is a selection of superheroes, originals stories, and everything in between, making for plenty of footage to make you long for the summer months. So without further ado, here are our staff picks for this week’s best and brightest in the realm of trailers.

1. The Legend of Tarzan

There’s no shortage of live-action reboots set to debut in 2016, and The Legend of Tarzan is no exception. Starring Alexander Skarsgård alongside Margot Robbie and Christoph Waltz, it’s an A-list cast for a story that actually works better than most when it comes to a modern studio rework. The second full-length trailer gives us all sorts of details on what’s coming, showing us the origin of Tarzan himself, as well as a fair bit of the general story that before had been a mystery.

2. X-Men: Apocalypse

Marvel and DC have been dominating a large majority of comic book-related headlines lately with Captain America: Civil War and Batman v Superman, but let’s not forget that 20th Century Fox has an ace up their sleeve as well. X-Men: Apocalypse releases mere weeks after Civil War, and its story looks to carry even higher stakes than Marvel’s own superhero showdown. Above, we finally get a good look at Oscar Isaac as our main villain, and it’s safe to say that at this point, few other actors are dominating big-budget franchises in quite the same way.

3. Daredevil, Season 2

It’s been a long wait, but the day is finally here: Daredevil Season 2 has arrived on Netflix. Many people today are likely left waiting at work before they can dive in headfirst though, so here’s one more trailer to sate your appetite. While the first two teasers focused on the Punisher and Elektra respectively, the final one hones in on the greater conflict of the new season. We won’t spoil it entirely, but let’s just say there’ll be no shortage of ninjas in the latter half of Season 2.

4. Sausage Party

It’s not easy getting noticed as a non-Disney/Pixar animated movie nowadays. The latest work from Seth Rogen though seems to accomplish that goal in spades, brought on by a hefty red-band trailer unveiled this last week at SXSW. Sausage Party posits a disturbing theory that all our food is in fact alive, feeling every bite we take in a horrific turn of events. It’s definitely not a “night out with the family” sort of animated feature, so keep that in mind when you hit play on the red-band trailer above.

5. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

For perhaps the most Tim Burton-y Tim Burton movie ever, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children actually looks like an instance in which the oddball director has reeled himself in. It doesn’t feature any of the trademark white makeup or Johnny Depp strangeness, instead diving into a story of misfit children hidden away from the world in a gorgeous mansion. Think X-Men meets… well, Tim Burton, and that’s essentially what this looks like.
