5 Video Games Launching Next Week: ‘Walking Dead’ and More

Have you already played through recent video games like the stealth assassination simulator Hitman and the post-apocalyptic shooter The Division? Are you looking at your gaming devices and wondering what to play next week? Wonder no more, because we’ve gathered all the information you need about next week’s games right here. Read on to find out about all the biggest games releasing the week of March 28, 2016.

1. Killer Instinct: Season 3

Release date: March 29
Platform: Xbox One

Microsoft has been slowly building this Xbox One-exclusive fighting game ever since the console launched two years ago. The latest update adds eight more fighters, including familiar faces like Rash from Battletoads, the Arbiter from Halo, as well as Kim Wu and Tusk from previous Killer Instinct games. If you want to freshen up this long-running fighting game, Season 3 ought to do it.

2. Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 5 – Order Up!

Release date: March 29
Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, Xbox 360, and mobile

Minecraft is one of the most successful games in the history of the medium, but one thing it doesn’t have is a story. Developer Telltale has teamed up with Minecraft’s Mojang and picked up the slack in this episodic adventure. With voice acting by the likes of Patton Oswald, Corey Feldman, Ashley Johnson, and Paul Reubens, this game has been shaping up nicely. This is the last episode of the original story arc — making now a great time to dive in if you haven’t already — but Mojang recently announced three additional installments by year’s end.

3. MLB The Show 16

Release date: March 29
Platform: PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3

If you’ve wanted a great baseball game in recent years, MLB The Show has been the go-to series. It doesn’t look like that will change in 2016. The developers say this year’s installment will use the same core gameplay, but with a few tweaks here and there, as well as a few new features to keep things fresh. New to the game this year is ShowTime, which slows down the game at key moments to give you finer control over making plays. They’ve also added a multiplayer tournament mode called Battle Royale as well as Conquest mode, which turns the sport into a kind of turn-based strategy game.

4. The Walking Dead: Michonne: Episode 2 – Give No Shelter

Release date: March 29
Platform: PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360

Not content with releasing just one adventure game this week, developer Telltale Games is at it again with the second installment of this Michonne-focused Walking Dead game. Once again you’ll take control of everyone’s favorite dreadlocked zombie slasher and continue the story that started last month. As usual, you can expect to make hard choices about who lives and dies, and see plenty of zombies meet their ultimate end.

5. Resident Evil 6

Release date: March 29
Platform: PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Capcom recently told investors it would focus on bringing its older games to the latest consoles, and boy is it delivering on that promise. We’ve already gotten a few remasters of older Resident Evil games, but now it’s time for ports of the more recent games, with the fourth, fifth, and sixth main installments coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. For some unfathomable reason, Capcom is porting the titles in reverse order, starting with 6. Unfortunately, Resident Evil 6 is widely regarded as the worst game in the series. It’s probably best to wait for the Resident Evil 5 re-release if you want relive your glory days of killing zombies.

6. Oculus Rift launch titles

Release date: March 28
Platform: Oculus Rift

The first of the major virtual reality headsets comes out March 28 — though you won’t be able to get one unless you preordered it. As of this writing they’re backordered to July, so hurry and place your order if you want to get one by the end of summer.

The launch titles include EVE Valkyrie, ADR1FT, and Lucky’s Tale. We’ll have a separate article highlighting the most promising Oculus Rift launch games going up soon, so check it out.
