5 Ways 2020 Will Be an Exciting Year for Chip and Joanna Gaines
Fans had a hard time coping when Chip and Joanna Gaines announced that they’d be ceasing production on their hit show, Fixer Upper. The same HGTV hit that made them famous had become a national phenomenon by that point, inspiring copycats from coast to coast to begin incorporating Joanna’s modern farmhouse style into their own homes.
Followers worried that Chip and Joanna were planning to leave the spotlight and settle into a quieter life on their Texas homestead. But instead of fading into obscurity, Chip and Joanna are more popular than ever these days. And thanks to all the exciting things they have planned, 2020 is looking like it might be their biggest year yet.
Chip and Joanna are launching a television network
The biggest project Chip and Joanna are taking on in 2020 is the launch of their highly anticipated Magnolia Network. Magnolia will take the place of DIY Network as part of the Discovery family of networks. The couple promised the lineup will include, “unique, inspiring, and family-friendly” shows that everyone can enjoy.
“A little rusty but we’re back at it again!” Joanna Gaines posted on her Instagram recently. “Our network is launching October 2020 (which feels simultaneously so soon and yet so far away). Let the countdown begin!”
So far, the couple confirmed two shows on the network: Home On the Road, a docuseries about the band Johnnyswim, and an as-yet-unnamed cooking show with Joanna.
They launched a furniture line at Target
Chip and Joanna are making money through multiple partnerships with big retailers, including the incredibly successful Hearth & Hand line at Target. Recently, the Gaineses expanded this product assortment to include furniture, which could mean even bigger profits.
They already have Magnolia furniture available through certain specialty retailers, but their Target offerings will be sold at lower price points that are more accessible to different budgets.
The Gaineses are renovating a hotel
Though they haven’t confirmed a reality show based on the process, fans are eager to see updates on Chip and Joanna’s most ambitious renovation project yet. In 2019, the couple announced they were purchasing a historic building in downtown Waco and were planning to turn it into a luxury boutique hotel.
“I could see the history, I saw the people in here, I saw the parties that were in here,” Joanna explained about the hotel,” and I saw that this place is really special.”
“This is a fun one because it’s big and it’s gnarly, and I think big and gnarly kind of excite Jo and I.” Chip agreed, “And then when you get to see this a year and a half from now and you see that ballroom activity that she’s describing, with the people and the energy, you’re gonna go, ‘I can’t believe I saw this before and after.'”
Joanna is expanding on her current business ventures, too
After the success of the cookbook Magnolia Table, Joanna is hard at work on Magnolia Table 2, which is slated to be released in April 2020. Plus, the couple is knee-deep in a $10.4 million expansion of Magnolia Market at the Silos, a shopping emporium and huge draw of tourism in the area.
It’s a Chip and Joanna Gaines world, and we’re just living in it. We can’t wait to see what 2020 brings for this extraordinarily talented couple!
