Here’s a wrap-up of all the rumors that have been abuzz in the entertainment world over the past week.
Robert Pattinson Addresses Harrison Ford Rumors
Robert Pattinson seems to be equally as confused about the rumors that he’s in the running to play both iconic Harrison Ford roles Indiana Jones and Han Solo as everyone else. While walking the red carpet at the premiere of his latest film, The Rover, Pattinson told People that he wasn’t really sure where the rumors came from. “I don’t know why. Why is that coming out? I honestly don’t understand what that’s all about. Man, I wish!” he said. “I didn’t even know there was a Han Solo spinoff coming out. Sounds like a cool spinoff. I’ll watch it.”
Jason Momoa as Aquaman
Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is in talks to play Aquaman in Zach Snyder’s upcoming Justice League film Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter. Details about the project are being kept as secret as possible, with Momoa and the film’s studio Warner Bros. refusing to comment on whether he’d been cast and what role he would play. Henry Cavill will play Superman and Ben Affleck was the controversial choice for Batman. Aquaman, who has superstrength and the ability to talk to ocean-dwelling creatures, is one of the founding members of the Justice League, so it’s been long rumored that the character would appear in the film.
There’s no Father of the Bride 3
Earlier this week, rumors that another Father of the Bride sequel was in the works began circulating online, suggesting that the plot would involve the original bride’s younger brother getting married to another man. Steve Martin, the original star of the first two Father of the Bride films, dismissed rumors of his involvement on Twitter, saying: “So excited to read I’m doing Father of the Bride 3 since I haven’t seen a script or been offered the role!” Disney later confirmed with Entertainment Weekly that there is no Father of the Bride 3 in development.
N.W.A. Biopic Casting
F. Gary Gray’s biopic about the iconic rap group N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton has cast Ice Cube’s son O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play a young Ice Cube in the movie, and now the filmmakers are moving forward with filling the roles of Dr. Dre and Eazy-E. Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that classically trained actor and former member of the Shakespeare Lab at the Public Theater in New York Marcus Callender has nabbed the part of Dr. Dre. The relatively unknown New Orleans-based actor Jason Mitchell landed the role of Eazy-E after a screen test that astounded the filmmakers, THR’s sources said. The biopic has been fraught with difficulties since Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E’s widow Tomica Wright have to give their approval on the cast and script, though now it appears they are finally beginning to agree and the film is coming together.
Vin Diesel Difficulties on Fast and the Furious 7 Set
Vin Diesel has reportedly been making things difficult for everyone on the set of The Fast and the Furious 7, and the actor responded to rumors that he’d been holding up production by holing up in his trailer in a Facebook post on Tuesday, saying that the process of trying to move forward on the film without the late Paul Walker has been difficult. The filmmakers brought in Walker’s younger brother, Cody, to help finish the movie, which was put on hold after Walker’s death in November. Cody will play the same character as Paul through the use of face-replacement technology, and that process has been causing Diesel’s frustrations.
“He always knew I would fight for him … whether it was to protect his deal or to protect his integrity,” Diesel wrote. “With our new ambitious vfx team, the whole cast and crew has had to adjust to this awkward and uncomfortable process of pixels over people. Aside from the obvious strains it places on the director, the challenge is not to allow it to compromise what makes the character so special.”
Lupita Nyong’o to Play Jedi Hunter
The Oscar winner has been cast in the upcoming and much-speculated-about Star Wars: Episode VII, and the rumor mill is busy at work trying to figure out what her role in the film will be. The website Making Star Wars claims to have sources in the studio where the film is currently shooting, and those sources say that Nyong’o and Girls star Adam Driver will play villainous Jedi Hunters in the movie. The Jedi Hunters dress in all black, and the sources said the Nyong’o has been seen walking around on set wearing creepy looking yellow contact lenses.
