7 Best Movie Trailers that Debuted During the Super Bowl

Super Bowl 50 has come and gone, but one thing we’re still buzzing over? All of the new film trailers that debuted during the big game. From the first ever teaser for the highly anticipated Jason Bourne sequel to the latest looks at blockbuster superhero flicks like Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Apocalypse, here’s a look at seven of this year’s can’t-miss Super Bowl movie spots.

1. Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates


Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza out-bro Zac Efron and Adam Devine in the first trailer for this upcoming comedy, which follows two hard-partying brothers who are ordered to find dates for their sister’s wedding. When they meet Plaza’s Tatiana and Kendrick’s Alice, they think they’ve found the perfect girls — but it turns out the two aren’t actually as innocent and sweet as they initially seemed. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 8.

2. Jason Bourne


Matt Damon jumps back into action mode in the first trailer for the latest installment of the spy thriller franchise. The clip shows the actor reprising the iconic spy role for the first time in 12 years. “I know who I am,” Bourne declares in the action-packed teaser. “I remember everything.” The movie, which will reunite Damon with The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum director Paul Greengrass, is scheduled to hit theaters this summer.

3. Independence Day: Resurgence


The latest trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence is all about the new — from new stars Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher to the new wave of aliens posing even more threats to the world. The movie takes place 20 years after the original and will bring back original cast members Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman. Roland Emmerich will also return to direct the follow-up, which is now set to open on June 24.

4. Captain America: Civil War


The latest action-packed Civil War trailer gives viewers a new look at the brewing battle between Chris Evans’s Cap and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, who find themselves on opposite sides of the law when world governments try to regulate superheroes. While Cap leads those who resist the measures, Iron Man becomes the champion of the regulation effort. The trailer gives a look at both teams and the lineup of heroes that make up each side.

5. X-Men: Apocalypse


The latest fast-paced teaser for the upcoming X-Men flick promises plenty more mutant madness, give audiences a look at just about all the mutants showing off their powers: Magneto ripping up bridges, Storm conjuring powerful hurricanes, Quicksilver racing through time, Angel using his wings to attack, etc. But it’s new character Psylocke, played by Olivia Munn, who gets the scene-stealing moment, slashing a car in half with her sword. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 27.

6. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice


Ben Affleck and Jesse Eisenberg reprise their roles as Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor in these fake destination ads for Turkish Airlines, promoting tourism to the comic book locations of Gotham City (home of the Dark Knight) and Metropolis (home of the Man of Steel). In the spot, Luthor makes a major donation to the city of Metropolis and helps it return to prosperity after the battle between Superman and General Zod leaves it destroyed. Meanwhile, Batman has been fighting to clean up Gotham and his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, promises, “There’s never been a better time to visit our great city.” Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will debut in theaters on March 25.

7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows


Paramount Pictures released the first television spot for its upcoming live-action sequel, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. This time around, April O’Neil and the Turtles — Raphael, Michelangelo, Leonardo, and Donatello — team-up with vigilante Casey Jones as they take on inter-dimensional villain Krang, whom audiences get their first look at in the teaser. The movie stars Megan Fox, Stephen Amell, Johnny Knoxville, Tyler Perry, and Will Arnett and is scheduled to debut in theaters on June 3.
