5 Celebrities Set to Release Books in 2015

Over the years, many celebrities have added the title of author to their resumes. In fact, it’s becoming more of a rarity for someone famous to have not taken a stab at writing. The coming year is no exception, either. Covering everything from selfies to singledom, here are five celebs releasing books in 2015.

1. Kim Kardashian

Kardashian is on the reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and has launched several successful clothing and perfume lines. Now, she can add author to the list. The reality star signed a deal with the publishing company Rizzoli to release a book of selfies, titled Selfish, according to Us Weekly. The book, which will be on sale for $19.95, “presents some of Kim’s favorite selfies in one volume — from her favorite throwback images to current ultra-sexy glam shots — and provides readers with a behind-the-scenes look into this larger-than-life star,” according to the publishing company.

Us Weekly writes that Kardashian came up with the idea while making a book of selfies for her husband, Kanye West. The book will hit shelves in April 2015.

2. Mary-Louise Parker

Parker, best known for her role as Nancy Botwin on Showtime’s TV series Weeds, is releasing Dear Mr. You, an autobiographical book that will discuss her experiences and perceptions through a series of letters written to the significant men in her life. “I am so honored and thrilled to be working with Scribner and in the company of such wonderful writers,” Parker said in a release.

“From Frank McCourt to Jeannette Walls to Anjelica Huston, Scribner loves a great memoirist, and Mary-Louise Parker is one. Her writing is magnificent; the conceit — a memoir in letters to men — is wholly original and brilliantly executed,” Nan Graham, senior vice president and publisher of Scribner, said in the release.

The book is set to hit shelves in the fall of 2015.

3. Nick Cannon

Cannon is writing a children’s poetry book, which will be published by Scholastic, writes USA TODAY. The book is titled Neon Aliens Ate My Homework And Other Poems, and will contain black and white illustrations from different street artists, Essence reports. Some of the street artists include Art Mobb, Califawnia, Captain Kris, Morf, Queen Andrea, MAST, and Mike P.

“The first important writer in my life was Shel Silverstein — he made me fall in love with writing and seeing his whimsical sketches got me interested in art. When I was eight years old, I got a spiral notebook and wrote my first poem/rap. I filled that notebook with poems, rhymes, jokes, and witty stories. I still keep one to this day. I hope that poems in Neon Aliens will help inspire kids to want to get out a pen and paper to write or draw their own thoughts, rhymes, and stories,” Cannon said in a statement.

4. Jon Cryer

Cryer, best known for his role as Alan Harper on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, is writing a memoir, which will cover his behind-the-scenes experiences working on the CBS hit and 1986’s Pretty in Pink, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“In these times of truly global crisis when fear is outracing hope, I think we can all be grateful that the guy who played Duckie in Pretty in Pink is writing a book. It’ll be filled with just what you’d expect from me; juicy tidbits on international monetary policy, catty comments regarding agriculture in Central Asia and, of course, forbidden anecdotes about stamp collecting. And maybe I’ll talk about Charlie Sheen,” Cryer said in The Hollywood Reporter article.

Cryer is releasing the book in spring 2015 through publishing company New American Library.

5. Aziz Ansari

Parks and Recreation star Ansari signed a deal with Penguin Press in 2013 to write his first book. “The untitled book will provide an investigation into what Ansari argues is an entirely new era for singles, in which the basic issues facing a single person — whom we meet, how we meet them, and what happens next — have been radically altered by new technologies. Ansari will be allying with noted academics for interviews and to conduct original research to help him bring the new reality into focus,” according to a Penguin Press statement.

Ansari is enlisting the help of experts and conducting his own experiments in order to provide a unique and accurate view of singledom, the publishing company said. In addition, Splitsider reports that Ansari has created a subreddit section on Reddit, in which he asks users questions to help with his research.

The book is expected to be released in 2015.
