’90 Day Fiancé’: Angela Deem Worries Her Mom Will Pass Away While She’s In Nigeria In ‘Happily Ever After’ Sneak Peek

90 Day Fiancé star Angela Deem might be best known for her explosive temper and for wanting to “tote a baby” with her much younger Nigerian fiancé, Michael Ilesanmi.

But the 54-year-old grandmother of six, who hails from Hazlehurst, Georgia, is showing a softer side of herself on the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After in her concern for her aging mother, Glenda Standridge. Angela’s mom tragically died in Feb. 2020, but at the time of this season’s filming, she was still alive.

In a new TLC GO sneak peek of an upcoming episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Angela prepared to marry Michael in Nigeria. But saying goodbye to her mother was more difficult than ever, as she wondered if it was the last time they’d ever see each other.

Angela asked a friend to help take care of her mother while she was in Nigeria

In the 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After preview clip, a frenzied Angela hastily packed for her trip to Nigeria. After several delays in the K-1 visa process, Angela and Michael had ultimately decided to get married in Michael’s home country instead and move to the U.S. together after tying the knot.

Angela explained that she’d enlisted the help of a friend to take care of her mother and grandkids while she was away. Since her daughter, Skyla Deem, also had a full-time job, she wouldn’t be able to handle all the caregiving responsibilities on her own.

The usually confident Angela seemed jittery and nervous as she prepared to marry her fiancé at last. “I just feel overwhelmed. I never imagined that I would be getting married to him in Nigeria, ever,” the 90 Day Fiancé star told producers.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star admitted she worried about her mother’s health

Angela took the time to share a sweet goodbye with her bedbound mother before she left for Nigeria. “Mama, I’m getting ready to go to Nigeria,” she told Glenda.

“I might come back a married woman. I might come back even crazier than I am,” Angela joked. “Got any last-minute advice?”

“Yeah. Just go and get married!” Glenda told her daughter, trying to calm her nerves.

Michael’s bride-to-be told 90 Day Fiancé producers that her mother had been nothing but supportive when it came to her relationship. “You know, my mom gives me her whole blessing to go and marry Michael,” Angela said. “And, you know, I should be really, really happy, because I miss Michael extremely.”

But, the hospice caregiver added sadly, she was still a little concerned about leaving her mom behind for her trip. She would be gone for several weeks, and anything could happen in that time due to Glenda’s rapidly failing health.

“It’s bittersweet,” Angela admitted, “because lately, Mama hasn’t been feeling well. I don’t really want to leave her, but she’s telling me to go.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star’s eyes filled with tears as she said quietly, “I mean, I’m trying not to think about it. I mean, anything could happen, you know? This could be the last time I see Mom.”

“I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t running through my head,” Angela confessed, “but I have to be the tough leader and act like nothing bothers me, and that’s hard.”

Michael’s bride-to-be admitted she was nervous to finally tie the knot

Still, Angela knew she was making the right decision. She’d waited a long time to marry Michael, and it was finally time to tie the knot with her longtime fiancé.

“It’s hard going to Nigeria, but being without the one you love is getting unbearable,” the 90 Day Fiancé star told producers.

She was uncharacteristically anxious as she made her way to the airport and onto the plane for the lengthy trip to Nigeria. “I’m a nervous bride,” Angela said, carrying her specially-fitted wedding dress.  “If I’m nervous, I wonder if Michael’s nervous. Here I come, Michael, ready or not.” She added that she couldn’t believe she was about to lose her last name and take on Michael’s.

“Reality is hitting me hard. Like, this trip to Nigeria is much different from other trips,” Angela said.

Gushing about her love for Michael, the 90 Day Fiancé star couldn’t believe what she was wiling to do for her soulmate.

“Love is crazy. It’ll make you do crazy s*it,” Angela admitted. “This trip here, I’m gonna be his wife. Holy s*it. I’m happy, but I’m just a nervous wreck.”
