’90 Day Fiance’: Ashley Martson Responds to Rumors She and Jay Smith Are Divorcing

Is the honeymoon over? Ashley Martson from Season 6 of 90 Day Fiancé has filed for divorce from her husband Jay Smith, In Touch Weekly reports.

Divorce papers were filed on January 11, according to the tabloid. That’s just days before Ashley ended up in the hospital because of acute kidney failure due to lupus.

How did Ashley respond to the divorce rumors?

After news of the divorce filing broke, Ashley quickly shot back with a post on Instagram. She shared a photo of her and Jay and wrote “Who the f*** is leaking all this s***?” followed by #notcool. She didn’t confirm or deny whether she and Jay had actually split. However, 90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates appears to have obtained a copy of the divorce papers, which he shared on Twitter.

Jay, for his part, didn’t comment directly on the rumors. But he did post a happy photo of himself and Ashley on the beach, which seems to suggest that there’s more to this story.

Why the couple may have split

Cheating may be the reason why Ashley and Jay didn’t last. Shortly after their wedding, Ashley revealed that she discovered Jay was sending messages to other women online. Understandably, she was pretty upset.

Shortly before Christmas, it looked like the couple had cut ties with each other. They stopped appearing together in public and were no longer following each other on Instagram. Jay even started a GoFundMe to “Help me get and my feet an a place to stay,” US Weekly noted. (The GoFundMe is no longer active.)

Jay also said that cheating may have happened on both sides in his marriage. In an Instagram message, he wrote “Fyi: for everyone coming at me. I wasn’t the only one who was ‘talking’ aka ‘cheating’ with other people during our relationship/marriage.”

How Jay reacted to Ashley’s health crisis

The couple might have been on the outs, but after Ashley’s health scare, Jay was apparently by her side. He shared a photo on Instagram from her hospital room, writing:

I may have hurt you. I may have not been a good husband. Jumping on a plane the second I found out you [were] in the hospital was something I didn’t even think twice to do. We have our differences, but as long as I have life, I will never let you sit alone and suffer. I love you, and nothing will ever change that. Thank you for having me here to support you.

It’s possible Ashley’s health scare prompted a reconciliation between the couple. However, some fans think there’s something fishy going on. They are questioning a GoFundMe asking for donations to cover Ashley’s medical bills. It raised $3,860 of a $5,000 goal before the campaign ended. Skeptical followers on social media wondered if she was “scamming people for money.” Others were suspicious after she appeared at a party with Jay shortly after being released from the hospital.

In any case, it seems likely that we haven’t seen the end of Ashley and Jay’s story. Rumor has it that they might be featured on the next season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.
