’90 Day Fiancé’: Ashley Martson Reveals How The Tell-All Was Edited, What Was Cut
90 Day Fiancé star Ashley Martson seems to have received the short end of the stick. After she discovered Jay Smith had cheated on her, she filed for divorce. Since then, she claims Smith has been refusing to sign the divorce papers. Smith has also violated a court order and been detained by ICE since his infidelity.
Now, Ashley Martson is dishing on how the show was edited — certain things were cut, and one particular edit left her looking bad, she feels. Martson has been angry with TLC’s editing and requirements in the past, and it seems this might be no exception.
Martson’s past frustrations with TLC
In February this year, Ashley Martson was very vocal with her frustrations over how TLC edited 90 Day Fiancé. In a damning Instagram post, Martson unleashed on TLC.
“We have been asked to be very deceptive about many things during our run with the show. We have been asked (and agreed for some time) to fake our relationship by not posting anything that makes us appear that we are together,” wrote Martson.
She went on to add, “We will be working with the necessary parties to find a solution to the constant deception and lies we are being asked to participate in as it is not conducive to the very real consequences that potentially exist for us.”
“Personally, I thought this show was just for entertainment & that’s what we were told,” explained Martson. “Since the show has ended I never confirmed the status of our relationship due to the contract.”
It seems Martson was frustrated by the fact that she had to pretend as if her relationship was on the rocks. She previously told InTouch Weekly, “We were trying to hide our relationship, but you can’t hide your relationship when you’re on national TV. People were catching us out, taking pictures, saying we were frauding and all this stuff.”
Martson says TLC cut this segment
According to Martson, TLC cut one particular segment in such a way that it left her looking rather bad. “There was a lot of editing and cutting that was done, but just a lot of back and forth, he said she said kind of stuff between Jay and I,” the 90 Day Fiancé star told InTouch Weekly.
Martson went on to explain that a segment where she and Jay Smith discussed the fake Instagram account they created was cut. “We did talk about it on the tell-all, but it didn’t make the cut,” explained Martson.
She then implied that the tell-all was cut to make her look bad once Jay Smith accused her of trying to cheat. “I know it looks like he said I was doing something and I just bolted, but there was a lot of conversation about what he was saying I was doing. They kind of just do what they want with that footage,” she said.
She went on to tell InTouch that she’s, “just trying to stick to my contract.”
Smith claimed Martson tried to cheat
During the 90 Day Fiancé tell-all Jay Smith claimed that Martson tried to cheat on him. Smith claimed that one of his friends and coworkers, Michael, tried to “hook up with [his] girl.”
Smith claimed Martson had shown him text messages Michael had sent her in the past, and Martson and Michael were both left speechless and confused.
“We never had something going on,” said Martson.
Michael told Smith, “Jay, stop talking like you’re tough, man.” Afterward, Smith left the set of the tell-all.
