’90 Day Fiancé’: Fans Call Elizabeth Potthast Castravet’s Brother a ‘Drunken Embarrassment’ After Wedding Antics
Elizabeth Potthast Castravet and Andrei Castravet finally tied the knot for the second time in Andrei’s home country of Moldova on a recent episode of the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.
Elizabeth recently took to Instagram to share photos of the elaborate event—some of which even featured Charlie Potthast, her controversial brother, whose antics nearly ruined the night. After Charlie’s infamous alcohol-fueled speech at the couple’s lavish wedding, many 90 Day Fiancé fans called his behavior not only embarrassing, but also disrespectful and even “unforgivable.”
Charlie and Andrei had yet another confrontation at Andrei and Elizabeth’s wedding
Andrei and Charlie first nearly came to blows during an ill-fated dinner with family and friends in Moldova. Charlie accused Andrei of hiding dark secrets about his time as a police detective in his home country, while Andrei didn’t appreciate Charlie’s prying ways.
The brothers-in-law came to a tentative peace agreement for Elizabeth’s sake and tried to salvage the trip for their respective families. But when Andrei and Elizabeth’s big day arrived, Charlie had a hard time keeping his thoughts about the expensive event—which was funded by Elizabeth’s dad, Chuck Potthast—to himself after a few drinks. He delivered a curse-laced toast in which he told Andrei to “get his s*it together” and stop trying to “come to America and live off [his] dad.”
Fortunately, Andrei kept his wits about him, and his temper in check, that night. The 90 Day Fiancé star took Charlie aside, but he ultimately walked away before the confrontation could escalate.
’90 Day Fiancé’ fans told Elizabeth her brother was a ‘drunken embarrassment’ at her wedding
Despite the drama, it’s clear from their pride on social media that both Elizabeth and Andrei remember their Moldovan wedding fondly. Recently, Elizabeth took to Instagram to share a series of photos of the event, captioning the collection sweetly, “And they lived Happily Ever After.”
Several followers agreed that it was one of the most beautiful weddings in 90 Day Fiancé history, and certainly a highlight of the fifth season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.
But some 90 Day Fiancé fans didn’t share Elizabeth’s saccharine sentiments about the events. Instead of waxing nostalgic, several of them wondered why Elizabeth wasn’t angrier at her brother about his inappropriate behavior at the wedding. Some of her followers accused Charlie of being “jealous” of her positive relationship with Chuck.
“It’s like your family doesn’t want you to be happy,” one critic wrote to Elizabeth.
Another Instagram user wrote straightforwardly, “What your brother did at your wedding was unforgivable!”
“This is one time I can say Andrei handled himself very well and Libby’s brother was a drunken embarrassment,” one commenter argued.
Yet another told Elizabeth, “I’m glad you didn’t let your brother spoil it.”
“Never,” the 90 Day Fiancé star reassured her Instagram follower in response.
Many viewers praised Andrei for his level of restraint
Andrei has often been a controversial figure on 90 Day Fiancé, particularly due to his lack of steady employment and his sometimes harsh temper.
But, after Andrei’s latest run-in with Elizabeth’s brother, he impressed many 90 Day Fiancé viewers, who began to see him in a different light. Several of Elizabeth’s Instagram followers praised her husband for his maturity and his ability to stay calm during Charlie’s wedding antics.
“For once I was team Andrei,” one fan wrote. “He handled everything perfect.”
Another 90 Day Fiancé viewer argued that Andrei seemed entirely devoted to Elizabeth, as well as to the couple’s baby, Eleanor.
“Andrei is a good guy and has good intentions,” they wrote. “He’s definitely yours and your daughter’s protector. It’s obvious he loves you both very much.”
Several other fans argued that Andrei showed “growth” during the Moldovan wedding, especially because he was able to back down in the face of so much provocation in order to salvage the event for himself and his wife.
