’90 Day Fiancé’: Fans React to the Top 5 Biggest Moments of the Latest Episode, ‘The Pleasure Principle’
The May 17 episode of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, “The Pleasure Principle,” was—to put it lightly—eventful. From Babygirl Lisa Hamme’s cheating accusations to Stephanie Matto’s final meetup with Erika Owens, there was no shortage of drama.
And 90 Day Fiancé fans had quite a bit to say about the five funniest, craziest, and most shocking moments from the episode on Twitter.
David and Lana’s awkward meeting
David Murphey surprised just about all of us when his online Ukrainian girlfriend, Lana, turned out to be real. After seven years of talking online, David and Lana finally met up. And while David, 60, was certainly excited to meet his 28-year-old virtual girlfriend at last, 90 Day Fiancé fans were more interested in their very awkward first hug.
“Nothing says love like when you don’t hug a person back,” one Twitter user joked during the episode. Another fan wrote, “This hug between Lana and David perfectly captures my desperate attempt to get 2020 to love me back.”
Others couldn’t get over David’s “mmm” noise throughout his meeting with Lana.
A few savvy viewers noticed that Lana, contrary to what she’d claimed for the past seven years, did indeed have a phone…and could have called David this whole time.
Last but not least, fans didn’t think Lana was the only catfish/scammer in the mix after seeing David’s dating site photos. “David catfished Lana with them old photos from the 90s,” one viewer wrote.
Another joked, “I think David low-key catfished Lana also. Because I don’t remember seeing the Lamborghini in the storage with the unicycle.”
The aftermath of Ed and Rose’s breakup
Rosemarie Vega, 23, broke up with her 54-year-old boyfriend, Big Ed Brown, on last week’s episode. This week, he doubled down with the victim role—despite the many ways he’d wronged the young single mom, from not telling her beforehand that he wanted to get a vasectomy to telling her she had bad breath (from a stomach ulcer, she explained).
Needless to say, 90 Day Fiancé fans didn’t have many kind words for Ed, despite his tears.
“Poor Ed,” one fan wrote. “Something obviously went wrong somewhere between the ‘I want you to take an STD test’ conversation’ and the ‘I lied about wanting children’ conversation. But who knows? Women are so confusing.”
Stephanie’s three-hour cab ride and meetup with Erika
After their explosive, bowl-smashing breakup in a hotel room, Stephanie and Erika met up over coffee for the last time. Erika called Stephanie out for her poor treatment of her, as well as her unwillingness to take risks (like coming out to her family) to be with her.
But some 90 Day Fiancé fans were more interested in Stephanie’s three-hour cab ride from the hotel.
Others just couldn’t believe that Stephanie seemed to correct Erika’s grammar during their text exchange.
And Erika became the unsung hero of the season, with fans rallying around her to support her after the breakup.
Lisa and Usman’s big argument
Surprise, surprise: Lisa and Usman Umar got into yet another major argument on the May 17 episode. Babygirl Lisa accused Usman of flirting with another woman, and even professing his love for her, just a few days before they were supposed to get married. She demanded that he block the other woman immediately if he wanted the wedding to go on in a few days.
90 Day Fiancé fans weren’t convinced about Lisa’s claim that she had “50 mens” back in the U.S. who would marry her at the drop of a hat.
“I want some receipts on all these 50 men lining up to marry Baby Girl Lisa!” one Twitter user wrote skeptically.
Others weren’t here for it when Lisa called Usman “local talent” during an argument.
Varya and Mary’s standoff
After Geoffrey Paschel headed back to Knoxville, Tennessee, he moved on fairly quickly from Varya Malina. He promised his longtime friend, Mary, that he wanted to pursue a relationship with her and wasn’t interested in Varya anymore.
But Varya had other plans. She headed to Tennessee for a two-week stay (booking only one night at a hotel room!). And when she showed up, who was behind the door but—you guessed it—Mary?
90 Day Fiancé fans were shocked at TLC producers’ audacity—with many believing the moment was scripted, or at least set up.
Others just couldn’t believe any women were fighting over Geoffrey in the first place.
