’90 Day Fiancé’: Jovi’s Mom Thinks Yara Is Being Selfish About the Wedding
Jovi Dufren and his Ukrainian fiance, Yara Zaya took a trip to the Bayou to visit Jovi’s mom Gwen on the latest episode of 90 Day Fiancé. But when Yara refused the idea of a small family wedding, Gwen suggested she was selfish.
On ’90 Day Fiancé,’ Yara complains about a lot
Ever since she landed in New Orleans, Yara has complained about quite a bit. Not to say some of her complaints aren’t valid.
When she arrived at the airport, she slammed Jovi for trying to take her out on the town after an exhausting 30-hour flight. And when she got to his apartment, she said it was too small. And after seeing his broken coffee table, she pointed out how unkempt it was.
And when Jovi took her out to Bourbon Street, Yara found it to be unimpressive. She slammed New Orleans and the U.S. as a whole.
“New Orleans, I was thinking it will be different because they have so many people here,” Yara told 90 Day Fiancé cameras. “But, oh my goodness, Bourbon Street, I don’t even know how people go there. For my European mentality, it’s just too much. It just smells like pee and throwing up. It’s so terrible.”
“I think America will be…I may not think that America is sweet dreams or something like that, but like, Ukraine looks better,” she then told Jovi. “I mean it’s like more poor, but it does look better.”
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ couple visit Jovi’s mom in the Bayou
Despite some reluctance from Yara, Jovi took her to meet his mom, Gwen, who lives in the Bayou. The couple arrived just in time for a traditional Cajun dinner. And Jovi’s mom told 90 Day Fiancé producers that she’d keep an eye on Yara for any red flags.
“I definitely can see why Jovi’s attracted to Yara,” Gwen said. “Of course, she’s pretty and everyone can see that. But if I don’t like her and I get a bad feeling, I am going to open my mouth. Because I can’t just watch him make a mistake and me not say anything.”
Gwen calls Yara out for refusing to let her celebrate her son’s wedding
At the dinner table, Gwen asked Yara and Jovi about their wedding plans. Jovi noted that they would have a Las Vegas wedding because Yara didn’t want a big party. When Gwen asked her why and suggested how thrilled Jovi’s grandparents would be to see him get married, Yara said it was because she couldn’t have her own family there.
“I don’t want to have a wedding for is the reason just one there is,” Yara said. “Because you’re Jovi’s family and you want to be in [his] wedding. The same, my family wants to be in my wedding too. And I can not send them a video and say like, ‘Look Mom, here we are having fun and sorry you’re not invited here, you cannot be with us.’ I don’t want that she feel sad and think like I forget her or something.”
But Gwen didn’t understand the logic. And she suggested Yara was slightly selfish.
“I don’t know if it’s a matter of Yara’s maybe being a little selfish and ‘I want it my way,’” Gwen told 90 Day Fiancé cameras. “But it really deep down inside kind of hurts my feelings. Because in the big picture, she chose to come here. So, if Jovi would have chosen to go there, and I wasn’t allowed to go to Ukraine, I would have to just accept that that was his decision.”
“Maybe we need to talk about it a little bit more,” she continued. “Because I would really be really disappointed if we didn’t do anything.”
Viewers will get to see more of Jovi and Yara’s relationship and their dynamic with Gwen as this season of 90 Day Fiancé continues. New episodes air Sundays on TLC.
