’90 Day Fiancé’: Kalani Says She Doesn’t Want to Be Married Anymore
On season 5 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After, Kalani Faagata is dealing with more than her fair share of drama. She’s at odds with her husband, Asuelu Pulaa, after having a major argument with his sister and his mother.
This week, Kalani actually admits to the cameras that she doesn’t want to be married anymore, and it’s a shocking turn of events after a very stressful few days.
Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa’s mother and sister get into an argument
Kalani and Asuelu decide to take a trip to Washington to visit with Asuelu’s mother and sisters. However, there’s tension from the start, considering his family is expecting $1,000 from them. When Asuelu tells his mother, Lesina, that he only has $100, it’s clear that isn’t going to be enough. Kalani decides to have a private conversation with Lesina and Tammy, Asuelu’s sister.
Asuelu is only working part-time, and Kalani stays at home with their two small children. Although she hopes to “talk some sense into them” with the meeting, it doesn’t go that way at all.
“I’m here to tell you guys, I just don’t know why you all feel entitled to me and my family’s money. And that, however you feel, feel that way. But at the end of the day, it is going to be what I say,” Kalani tells Lesina and Tammy.
The arguing gets heated, and Lesina says, “Just give me money, that’s all I want.” It’s even mentioned by Tammy that maybe Kalani should work, and divorce is brought up as well. Lesina says she even wants Asuelu to go back to Samoa.
Kalani eventually walks away in tears, but Tammy lunges in her direction as her mother holds her back. “I’m gonna beat you up,” she yells at Kalani, who keeps walking away.
Kalani mentions the drama to Asuelu, which leads to a fight
Kalani returns and tells Asuelu what went down. At first, he seems to be on her side of things. Kalani tells him about Tammy, and she says, “If she would have grabbed me, I would have knocked her out.”
“What about if my sister knock you out?” Asuelu asks her. Kalani says that she would beat Asuelu in a fight, and that she would “drop” Tammy if she would have touched her. Kalani then exits the room to speak with her sister, Kolini, about what’s happened.
As she leaves, Asuelu says, “I think you’re f****** crazy.”
Asuelu leaves to go be with his family
After the argument between Kalani and Asuelu, Kalani speaks with her sister about everything that’s happened. Apparently, Asuelu overheard the conversation, and he and Kalani get into an argument over it. He then left by himself to go to his family’s house. Kalani and her sister spent the night in a hotel, and Kolini left in the morning to go home.
She calls her mother and tells her what went down when the cameras left. Kalani says Asuelu started “screaming” before leaving. She mentions that maybe Asuelu needs to talk to a therapist.
“I don’t know if this is like who he really is and that he’s like kind of contained it this whole time, but now I’m just questioning if I can even do this anymore,” Kalani tells the cameras. She says she feels like she has to stay for her children.
That same night, Asuelu returned with balloons and flowers, considering the next day is Valentine’s Day. However, he didn’t apologize or want to talk things out, according to Kalani. When she broaches the subject again, Asuelu mentions that he doesn’t want Kolini involved with what’s going on with them.
Kalani talks about going to therapy when they get home, and Asuelu says it’s a “good idea.” Asuelu has never heard the word “therapist” before in Samoa, so the whole idea is new to him.
Kalani says she doesn’t want to be married anymore
They head off to the airport to make the journey home, and Kalani throws out the balloons and flowers when they arrive. She speaks to producers before getting on the plane, and she makes an eye-opening confession.
“When Asuelu came back yesterday, I let him in because when I opened the door, he was like on one knee with roses and balloons and saying that he was sorry and that he loved me,” Kalani says. “And then when I let him in, we restarted fighting again, so… I mean I’m grateful he showed up and he’s going to help me get home, but other than that, I need a f****** break. I’m tired and I’m emotionally exhausted, and I need to sleep. And I just need to go home and figure things out so… I don’t know. I just want to be done.”
When producers ask what she means by being done, she says, “I don’t want to be married anymore.”
It sounds like Kalani is under an enormous amount of stress from this trip. Hopefully, things will get better between Kalani and Asuelu once they go to therapy and work through their issues.
