’90 Day Fiancé’: Paul Had a Song Written for Karine; Do the Lyrics Reveal Their Relationship Status and New Baby’s Name?

90 Day Fiancé stars Paul Staehle and Karine Martins Staehle have been through quite the rollercoaster ride since they got married in Karine’s home country of Brazil in 2017. Divorce threats, cheating accusations, and even protective orders have plagued the couple (now parents to their young son Pierre) ever since.

Most recently, Paul and Karine seemed to be permanently separated and even living in separate countries, before a tentative reunion. But a recent original song, shared by Paul on his Instagram stories, appeared to reveal not only their current relationship status, but the possible name of their second child as well.

Karine and Paul have lobbed many accusations at each other in recent months

After appearing on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, 37-year-old Paul and 23-year-old Karine moved on to the fifth season of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After. Their tumultuous relationship was certainly never a walk in the park, with their many breakups and makeups playing out on both reality TV and social media over the years.

But in recent months, the stakes seemed higher even by Karine and Paul’s relationship standards. In early August 2020, Paul took to Instagram to share videos of what appeared to be police coming to the couple’s home in Paul’s hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, in response to calls made by both parties about alleged domestic violence.

Both Paul and Karine were granted restraining orders against each other

Neither Karine nor Paul was arrested at the time, but the allegations continued. Karine refuted Paul’s claims in her own Instagram statement, while Paul’s allegations against his wife became increasingly alarming – including infidelity and the contraction of an STD as well as abuse and an open CPS case. Eventually, Paul claimed that Karine was pregnant and had disappeared with their son, Pierre.

In response, Karine was granted a protective order that prevented Paul from coming within 500 feet of her or Pierre. In the protective order, the 90 Day Fiancé star alleged her husband had been physically, emotionally, and even sexually abusive to her. (Paul denied these claims, just as Karine denied her husband’s claims.)

The order also suggested that Paul didn’t allow his wife to have access to money, identification, and other crucial documents and materials.

Paul, too, was eventually granted a restraining order of his own. He claimed that Karine had tried to harm him by slipping glass shards into his food, in addition to allegedly asking her friends to send him threatening messages.

Amid all the turmoil, the couple was uninvited to the recent 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After Tell-All, hosted by Shaun Robinson.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ stars seemed to be trying to work things out recently

In recent weeks, Karine and Paul seemed like they were possibly on the path to some sort of reconciliation. Paul headed to Brazil and appeared to be cleaning up the couple’s house there to get it ready for his wife and son.

The couple then appeared to take the next step toward reconciliation by dropping their restraining orders against each other on September 16. In a recent YouTube interview with 90 Day Fiancé blogger John Yates (@johnyates327tv), Paul promised to stay quieter about any marital problems he might have in the future, publicly apologizing for his behavior on social media. He also revealed that he and Karine were living together again.

Recent social media clues – despite Karine’s lack of any presence on Instagram in months – seemed to suggest that the couple was indeed spending time together again.

On October 8, Paul shared an Instagram video of himself “feeding the homeless” with boxes of sandwiches from Jimmy John’s. In the video, Paul handed out food at an underpass in Downtown Louisville. In the caption, Paul used the pronoun “we” and mentioned a “woman behind the camera” filming him, suggesting that he and Karine might well be back together.

Paul shared a customized song that appeared to reveal his relationship status with Karine

Paul’s Instagram stories on October 8 offered even more clues about his troubled relationship with Karine. He shared a song written by the artists at Songlorious (@songlorious_official), a company that produces heartfelt customized musical pieces for special occasions.

The company’s description reads, “Make the best memories with the best gift: the gift of music. Our artists professionally make songs personalized just for you!”

It appears that Paul partnered with the company to create a song just for Karine. The piece made it more than clear that the 90 Day Fiancé couple was very much together and trying to work things out.

In the song’s lyrics, Paul reflected on his tumultuous history with Karine.

“Do you really know/how I’m feeling?/I wish things had worked out the first time,” the lyrics read. “Do I really wanna know/How you’re feeling?/Of course I do/Every moment counts with you.”

The song also seemed to reveal their second baby’s name

In addition to reflecting on their difficult history, the song’s lyrics presented a path toward the future for the rollercoaster 90 Day Fiancé couple.

“And sure we’ve had our problems/But everything takes time to heal,” they read. “I don’t really wanna love without you/So happy we’re fixing things up.”

“Don’t we know/Things get better/Just give it some time to heal,” the lyrics continued hopefully.

The most telling part of Paul’s song for his wife, however, was the possible reveal of the name of the couple’s baby. For all intents and purposes, it looks like the rumors about Karine’s pregnancy were true. It seems like they might have already named their son Ethan.

“People break up and make up all the time,” the verse began. “We got our son Pierre/And Ethan’s on the way/So happy to be here with you, Karine.”

The song ended on a uniquely optimistic note, suggesting that Paul believed this reunion might be for good.

“People break up and make up all the time,” the artist sang. “But I think we’re fixing this thing up right this time.”
