’90 Day Fiancé’: Sasha’s Parents Worry Their Son Won’t Stay With Emily

Sasha Larin and Emily Larina, two of the most talked-about Season 7 90 Day Fiancé stars, seem to have the odds against them. After all, Sasha has been married twice before and had a child with each of his ex-wives, making Emily his third wife and the mother of his third child.

In the early days of their son David’s life, Sasha and Emily also struggled with trust and communication. Sasha worked around the clock at the gym while Emily stayed home with the baby as the couple awaited their passports and visas, leaving the Portland, Oregon native feeling isolated in Sasha’s home country of Russia.

On the Dec. 8 episode, “Premature Departure,” the 90 Day Fiancé couple finally moved to the U.S. after months of passport-induced limbo. Emotions ran high before the flight, and even Sasha’s parents expressed some doubts about the pair’s romantic future.

Emily was anxious about the big move

Emily dealt with postpartum anxiety and stress after the birth of her first son. Her worries came to the forefront as she and Sasha prepared to move to the United States. “We have to pack our whole lives in three suitcases,” she told 90 Day Fiancé producers as Sasha’s parents helped them prep for their departure.

Her anxiety mounted as the family had to pause and sit before their travels because of a cultural superstition. “We have to sit. It’s a Russian tradition,” Emily explained. “I guess you need to sit before a journey because you don’t want the spirits in the house to get upset.”

“Emily is nervous,” Sasha told TLC producers. “She wants to be sure to pack all things, to not forget anything.” But unlike Emily, Sasha said he was “excited” for the move, not nervous. “We’ve been waiting for this for so long,” he said.

Of his hopes for his new life in the U.S., Sasha said, “I’m sure I will miss my family, I will miss my children. But I’m really excited to marry Emily and then be really successful in America, have my own dream. And one day, I’m going to swim in the Pacific Ocean.”

Emily worried about money, the long flight, and Sasha’s place in her family

Emily’s anxiety spilled over as the new mom worried about traveling with a baby for the first time, especially on such a long flight. She was also concerned about practical matters once they arrived in her home country, like finances and employment.

“I’m nervous about moving back,” the 90 Day Fiancé star admitted. “I have to find a job all over again. I have to find us a place.”

The 90 Day Fiancé star also worried that her family wouldn’t accept Sasha, especially his complicated romantic history. “I really hope my family will accept Sasha and give him a chance,” Emily said.

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star had a panic attack before the flight

Eventually, the moment got to be too much for Emily, and she had a panic attack in the car. “I am just so overwhelmed that I couldn’t keep it all in anymore,” she shared.

But Sasha and Emily came together in the tense moment, which comforted the new mom. “I have a lot of emotions right now and Sasha has to comfort me. That’s what I love about him, he’s my rock,” the 90 Day Fiancé star said.

“She had an outburst,” said Sasha’s father. “She just splashed everything out that she has been holding in this whole time.”

Sasha’s parents said they had ‘mixed emotions’ about the change

Sasha’s parents were a big part of Sasha’s and Emily’s lives after their son David was born in Russia, so they admitted they had “mixed emotions” about the upcoming move. “I won’t see my grandson. I won’t be able to hold him,” Sasha’s mother lamented to 90 Day Fiancé producers.

But the new dad’s father was more positive about the big change. “Of course we are sad,” he explained, “but we feel more joy of course that our son starts a new life…it pleases us more than it upsets us.”

As his son prepared to board the long-distance flight to the U.S., Sasha’s dad gave him some sage advice and support. “Everything will be fine. We all love you. You did this. Everything is for a reason,” he assured the 90 Day Fiancé star. “You grab your luck and you hold it…We want you to live a good, normal life. Not like we do here.”

The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star’s mom worried that his marriage would end

But Sasha’s mom didn’t seem so sure of her son’s bright future in the United States. She even expressed her worries about her son’s ability to maintain his marriage to Emily for the long haul, given his rocky past.

“I am very worried about their future together,” she confessed to 90 Day Fiancé producers. “I mean, I know Sasha well…he already has two marriages behind him. I just don’t want to think the worst.”

And although her husband tried to say they couldn’t be so sure the marriage would fail, Sasha’s mom didn’t look too convinced that Emily and Sasha would ultimately make it.
