’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Defends Her Choice to Not Have Children
90 Day Fiancé couple Evelin and Corey are off to a rocky start in Ecuador. Fans are already wondering whether or not the couple will stay together. Corey dropped his entire life in the U.S. to head to Ecuador for Evelin, but Evelin has expressed doubt in the past about the future of their relationship — a feeling Corey doesn’t share.
Now, after leaving Corey high and dry upon his arrival, Evelin has been facing fan backlash. However, she’s received criticism for other things as well, one major focus is her choice not to have children. Evelin isn’t having it, however. She’s fighting back.
Are they going to last?
Many fans are beginning to wonder if the couple has a future. Corey himself has expressed dismay at how his 90 Day Fiancé lover feels about their relationship — she has said she “hopes” it works out. Not a phrase that exactly inspires confidence.
Corey made it clear that he himself is concerned, and understands why fans might be worried as well. “It’s very scaring, especially if she’s seeming on the fence about things. It’s really not cool. I think a lot of people would break up with Evelin if put in my situation, but I love her,” said Corey in a recent episode.
Evelin made it clear on the show that Corey’s visit is going to be a make or break situation for their relationship — if things don’t go well and Corey doesn’t meet expectations, that could be it for the couple. “I am expecting him to learn how to speak Spanish, and he also needs to connect with my family better. If Corey doesn’t prove himself in the next 90 days, then it’s not going to work out,” said Evelin.
Evelin ditched Corey
Corey’s visit to Ecuador started on a seriously rough note. After dropping everything he has in the U.S., including his work and his car, Corey flew to Ecuador. However, instead of the loving excited greeting he was surely expecting, he was received by nobody. In fact, Corey received a message from Evelin, telling him to simply hop on a bus to get to her village. She wasn’t coming to pick him up. “You’re a big man, and you can come all the way here,” Evelin told him.
During the episode, Evelin made it clear that she expects Corey to get a little more independent while in Ecuador. “In order for him to convince me to marry him, I want to see him doing things [on] his own when he is in Ecuador,” she said.
After receiving backlash from 90 Day Fiancé fans on social media, Evelin defended her choice. In an Instagram post, Evelin wrote, “Don’t be worry about Corey, he surely got a good welcome. Reasons may or may not be on the next episode. If they are not I’ll probably explain later, for now keep watching and enjoy the show. Much love.”
Evelin reacts to fan criticism
Evelin made it clear on her debut episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way that she was not interested in converting to Corey’s Mormon beliefs, and that she had no interest in having children. Afterward, Evelin started to receive major backlash on social media, so much so that she felt the need to address it.
On an Instagram post of her dog and cat on her private profile, Evelin wrote, “Women are the worst enemy of women… here’s a few things for you to read. … I know how hard motherhood is and I respect it so much but I decided that is not for me, maybe later it’ll be when I can be the best mother in every way. Who knows me knows that my dream is to adopt kids that have no family… for now I have my babies and I love them soooooo much, they complete my world.”
Evelin went on to add, “I’m the girl that doesn’t need a man, and maybe that’s why we are so different. I see all the comments of women wishing they could find a man, begging to find one. Maybe when you start loving yourself you’ll realize that is good to have someone by your side because you like their company not because you need them.”
