’90 Day Fiancé’: Why Asuelu Isn’t in the Preview for the Tell-All Special
Fans have been waiting with bated breath for the tell-all special for the fifth season of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? But when a preview for the special aired at the end of the Sept. 20 episode, not everyone was there. Asuelu Pulaa’s absence stood out the most, as he had one of the most notable storylines of the season. But there’s a reason you didn’t see him in the clip.
Why Asuelu wasn’t in the preview for the ’90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After?’ Season 5 Tell-All
When the preview aired, his wife Kalani Faagata was shown sitting by herself as the host questioned whether he planned on coming. The scene made it seem as if Asuelu had opted out of the program, but as viewers who tuned into the Sept. 27 special know, that wasn’t the case.
Asuelu simply seemed to be running late, but he also suggested that he was on the fence about showing up due to all the drama between him and Kalani. The two experienced serious marital issues throughout the fifth season of the show, including arguments over his temper and a rift with his family over money.
Kalani said on a recent episode that things had gotten so tense that she had kicked Asuelu out the home they share with young sons Oliver and Kennedy. She explained that Asuelu had been going out repeatedly during the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and that she felt he was being irresponsible. Upset that he was putting their family at risk, Kalani sent Asuelu to his mom’s house in Washington on a one-way plane ticket.
“I don’t know when he’s coming back because this is not working. It’s not working anymore,” she said in a confessional.

Asuelu later returned to their home in Utah, saying on the special that he had decided to come back because he missed his family.
Kalani confirmed that they were back together, but she also admitted that there were still lingering problems in their relationship.
“Today, we are together and we’re living together, but we aren’t anywhere near where we used to be when we were first together,” she said. “We’re just in a really rocky place right now.”
As they continued to talk about the problems in their relationship, Asuelu started arguing with Kalani’s family over the coronavirus situation. Her mom Lisa called him irresponsible for continuing to go out while Asuelu said he didn’t see the big deal or difference in playing sports and going to the grocery story, even though the latter is considered an essential risk.
He started getting up to leave as the conversation grew increasingly heated, but Kalani convinced him to stay. Fans can see more of those two in the next part of the special when it airs on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
